I had same problem, was a short caused by water building up in the vehicle body frame under the doors, drilled holes and the water drained out, (first time i've seen a frame w/o drain holes)

Car door chime won't ring anymore. Even when I still have key in ignition turned off.

There can only be two reasons.

1. the door chime unit is broken.
2. the door switch is faulty and not registering the door is open.

Does the dome light come on when you open the drivers door?

A very obscure third reason, is a programming or communication fault with the BCM but unlikely.

06 montana chime wont stop out of park all doors shut tight

Might have a door switch bad is bad or wiring to one of the switches. I would begin by checking if there are any blown fuses. Would then check wiring to each door, along frame inside a rubber boot where door hinges are. If wiring is all good, I'd then move on to removing door panels and disconnecting each door latch harness until the chime goes off. This will indicate the specific switch that is bad. If all are good.

How do I disconnect the chime from automatic door .Had to cut cable as it jammed . Took out fuse but radio and clock now do not work .Can I disconnect wire from chimes .I knoe it comes from speakers .

try this
disconnect battery
undo the fuse box and look at the wires behind that fuse you pulled

check that only radio and clock wiring are fitted there

the chime may its own power source

i could be wrong
i thought chime was separate to sound system speakers
and comes from a small but loud sound device on the instrument panel circuit board ..much like a computer

Navigator Door Chime goes off when car off and I open the door. Radio system stays on & interior lights go off when door shuts.

All this comes from the GEM module,You will need to repair the driver door lamp switch located in the door lock assemble.

The warning chime on my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee continues chiming when the door is closed and the key is in the first position from off. I tow this unit behind a motor home and need to leave the key in...

The chime is active because the sensor on one of the doors keeps reporting it as open - this is a defect in the sensor, located inside the actual lock. You cannot disable the chime, it's an integral part of the Body Control Module. To fix that the door will have to be dismantled and the sensor replaced, a job for a repair shop.
Until you reach one you can disconnect the battery and lock the doors manually.

Warning bell won't stop sounding

Section 13-09: Gauges, Warning Devices — Chime System 1996 Windstar Workshop Manual
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION Warning Chime Systems Three distinct sounds are used to indicate the area of concern. Seat belt warning generates 1 chime per second
key-in-ignition generates 2 chimes per second
headlight on generates 4 chimes per second.
Key-In-Ignition Warning The key-in-ignition warning will sound when the driver's front door (20125) is opened with the key in the ignition switch. It will continue to sound until the key is removed, the front door is closed, the ignition switch is turned to START or the vehicle speed is over 24 kmh (15 mph).

Safety Belt Warning When the ignition switch is turned to RUN or START from OFF or ACC, the chime will sound for six seconds or until the safety belt is buckled.
  • The safety belt warning indicator lamp (10C859) will activate for 60 seconds or until the driver's safety belt is fastened. Both the chime and lamp activate at the same time.
Anytime the ignition switch is released from START and returns to RUN while the safety belt lamp or chime is activated, the safety belt warning lamp or chime will remain activated until either the timing sequence has been executed, or the safety belt is buckled.

Headlamp Switch On Warning The chime will be activated if the headlamps or parking lamps are ON, the key is not in the ignition and the driver's door is opened. The chime will sound at a rate of four per second.

98 VW Beetle-Door Ajar Chiming while driving

Your door lock module is bad. There are two ways to fix it. #1 is to replace the module. Various places online sell new ones for $160, while you can get them used for around $50. #2 is to replace the switch, which costs around $3-9, but then you have to remove the door lock module, remove the old switch, and mount/solder the new one in. You can also pull the door lock module and cut the wires going to the switch which will tell the door that it's always shut, and it will stop your dinging. That one's free, assuming you can get to the DLM.
