My saab after sitting for a while is hard to start-however engine turns over ok. When engine runs, all is fine and after short breaks say from store to store its fine also. Could it be a fuel related problem?

On website www.reliable-store.com has the
largest collection of repair, service, parts manuals of any vehicle on earth. Best website I came across for repairing, servicing or manuals.. Very helpful website
Why bother? You got 6 years out of the old one, and it was probably abused sitting around a lot while being shipped, waiting to be picked up, etc. A Saab does not have a hard starting engine, so there is hardly any need for anything special. And if you spend twice as much, it is not going to last twice as long. If you have no shorts and a good alternator, a normal battery is fine.
However, is you are determined to have the best, I believe that is an Optima. Costs about $150, and is a sealed gelcell battery that won't give off explosive or corrosive gases. Allows much deeper cycling and quicker recharge as well. Easy on the alternator.
Take the car to a local auto parts place and they should be able to scan the computer and give you the code that triggered your check engine light. Most places will run this scan for free. Even if your Saab appears to be running fine it is prudent to have this checked to avoid a sudden break down. I hope this helps. Good luck.
1st get autozone to clear the code, (free) The only thing I can think of that goes out when car is off and on when lights turn on is the parking lights on the side, the wires could be touching in the conduit, start car and pull brake fuse out, if the lights stay on you have a short, if only the park lights stay on (double filiment) look at the lighting system, but if the brake and driving light stay on, sounds like an ecu problem.
