If you can't get the key out of the ignition, it's probably the ignition switch (where the key goes in) that is bad, not the starter. The starter is on the right side under the exhaust manifold behind the right front wheel. It's not easy to change on those unless you know what you're doing.

Another problem could be that the linkage is not letting the trans. go back into park all the way. This could cause the starter not to work and your not being able to get the key out. Try spraying all the linkage with a penatrating oil and working the shifter back and forth. Try putting it in neutral and see if it will start there.

Just had someone rewire my rear entertainment system in my 2004 chevy trailblazer now having battery problems could this be why?

something is either drawing too much power from the battery like your starter, or the battery is shot. Have your battery tested.

There's no power to my 2004 Chevy trailblazer keys won't come out the ignition how can I start the ignition?

You have to have power to remove the key. There is a cable to the shifter that is hold the key from turning completely off. Put some pwoer to it and it will release.

I have a 2004 Chevy trailblazer no start no crank but if I put key on hot wire the starter it will start I replace new ignition switch and new starter relay b

Before you do any thing check for loose or bad connections. Also check you ground connection to engine. Check Fuses, relay and for a Fusible Link open circuit. Now let me explain what a Fusible Link does. They are short lengths of small gauge wire installed between the Battery and the Ignition Switch, or the Battery and the Fuse Panel. They'll melt and open the circuit before damage occurs in the rest of the circuit. I hope this was helpful you.

Won't start

You would need to check for voltage at the starter, the neutral safety switch, and the key switch. Sounds like the key switch may be failing.

2004 chevy tahoe won't turnover or start by being jumped

The ignition start circuit is the path from the ignition key in cranking mode to the solenoid on the starter. The path travels through a starter relay and a neutral safety switch before it reaches the starter.
This must be the circuit not working on your car.Make sure battery and starter connections are tight.Check for power at the starter solenoid terminal with a testlight when someone turns key to crank. If you have power there, they sold you a defective starter. If you have no power there then it could be the relay or the neutral safety switch.

You need to establish that you have 12v in the battery and that all connections are clean and secure. Lights horn etc do not give you voltage verification...your starter uses more amperage than anything else in the car. Once you are certain that everything is OK, check for 12v at the small wire on the starter with the key turned to start. If no volts, check the neutral safety switch or clutch switch Then check ignition switch for power in/out.
