1998 Honda Civic LX, The RR Door is closed and unlocked, and the child lock is off but neither the inside nor the outside handle will open the door. I suspect one of the connecting rods disconnected. How do I either get the door open now? or How do I take the panel from inside the car with the door shut?

YOU SHOULDN'T SEE THE INTERIOR ROD MOVE BECAUSE THE OUTSIDE HANDLE HAS IT'S OWN ROD THAT CONNECTS TO THE DOOR RELEASE THAT IS REALLY SHORT. IT MOVES DOWN WHEN THE HANDLE IS PULLED UP. TAKE OFF THE THREE SCREWS THAT HOLD THE DOOR CATCH ON THE DOOR AND YOU WILL SEE THIS SMALL ROD. I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU. LET ME KNOW. GOOD LUCK

You should have some little plugs in the plastic edge on the bottom that can be popped off, that will expose screws, there is maybe one screw behind the door handle, and maybe a couple in the door pull. Then once it is unscrewed, pop off the plastic retainers that hold it the rest of the panel and up it goes, past the lock button and off, except that it is still connected by wires, you should be able to see what's going on behind the handle without taking the wires loose, just lean it up against the door or the car. There is also a plastic wind barrier stuck on there with the stickiest stuff you ever saw, take off your watch. Hope this helps.
