Even a relativly new battery can develope a bad or dead cell. Does the engine spin over when ignition is attempted? Easiest way to check this is to load test the battery. Any major auto parts dealer( Advance, Autozone, NAPA, Oriellys, etc.) can test this at no charge. Also use a voltmeter to test the alternator output. Most alternators put out between 13.5-13.8 volts at the battery. A faulty alternator can cause the engines electrical system to pull voltage from the battery until it (Battery)gets down to around 10 volts at which time the voltage is to low to support the needs of the system and the vehicle simply cuts off and will not restart as described in the first part of your post. Hope this helps.
check the battery cable for a good connection then make sure its in park move the gear shifter around and place back in park. check the head lights for full power. last thing is jump it with cables to make sure the battery is strong.
In most cases this indicates that the battery of alternater is bad. More than likely its the alternator. yoy can have them both checked at your local autozone at no cost ....hope this info is helpful and Please rate this post.....
This sounds like a bad battery, take the car to your local auto parts store. Have them check the battery. If there is some other problem they can trouble shoot the charging / starting system also.
The dealers know about a problem with the batteries and will replace under warranty. The original batteries were defective. I just bought a 2006 CTS and after test driving the car the battery died and wouldnt restart. The dealer replaced the battery. You should not have to pay a dime.
