Hi this sounds like your brake pads have worn, or the brake shoes as well, if you have drum brakes on the back it will be shoes, if disk brakes will be pads+shoes (inside the disk) if it was the wheel bearing you would hear a loud humming noise not rubbing noise, is it a metallic rubbing noise or a rubber squeaking rubbing noise? just check condition of tyre on back if it is the squeaking rubber noise cost will depend on where you take it and if you do it yourself, possibly $40 to $50 at a garage/auto shop or possibly $20 to $30 if you do it yourself, this just depends ...hope this helps

Clicking noise goes away when braking

Look at the constant velocity joints on that side. When the rubber boot tears it lets road dirt in which fouls the grease and allows premature wear on the cv joint components.

The ABS system engages when it shouldn't and fails to shut off after the car is stopped. How many sensors are there on a 2000 Grand Marquis? How much do they cost to replace? Is the ABS light the...

TRAC is an option on ford products your better off without,
as it slams on the rear brakes & cuts out injectors, in the winter,
if the rear wheels slip. Really a bad invention. When you need
full control in snow,it is taken away.

The ABS is the electrical part of your braking system

As with any vehicle problem or check light, you get on your
dash, you should not be using the vehicle

You have the car checked for codes in a couple of days,
then diagnosed & repaired within a week

The abs & trac could be a bad wheel speed sensor,
you have 4 as well as other items in that system.

This is a social web site or forum,we answer questions from
home, as you can,so price questions would be addressed
at a repair shop. You never need a dealer for any vehicle
issues,ever,too expensive to go there

My 1997 Honda Accord makes a grinding noise when in motion. When I press on the brakes it stops, when I release the brakes it starts again. The grinding noise continues pretty consistantly when in motion,...

Sounds like a bad wheel hub. Or it could be just the brakes. Can you tell which corner it is coming from? Can you jack up that corner and spin the wheel? Wheel hub job about $400 brakes about $200 or less. Good luck

Rear brake noise after brake replacement

probably a dumb question, but if there is a backing plate, did you make sure it isnt bent and hitting the rotor? you never want to sand new rotors, although i dont think it would cause this concern. i would suggest lightly scuffing up the brake pads. this will eliminate any noise caused by the contact of the rotors and pads. if it goes away then you know its a problem with the pads/rotors.

scoring of only the inside rotors would make me think that possibly the caliper slides are frozen up. make sure they move quite freely on the slides. it is not uncommon for brake pads to score rotors though.

but brake noises at low speeds that dont' change when applying light brake pressure are usually some sort of metal or something contacting the rotor.

Squealing sound - front driver's side brakes

This sounds like a wear indicator( a metal tab on the brake pad) is doing its job, warning you that the brake pads need replacement soon. you can bend the wear indicators away from the rotor so they won't make contact. This will stop the annoying noise. Replace the pads and check the brakes soon. Brake pads should always be changed on both wheels at thge same time, so change the other front pads also.

ABS light, light come on goes off and comes back at 5-10mph

have had simmilar problemn with my 1992 licoln towncar do have a solution however will cost hundreds you have a ABS speed sensor out as u kno the problem is you cannot only replace one because they are wire through the axels you have to replace both meaning either both front or both rear in your case if front driversside is faulty you will need to replace both unhooking will only cause light to permantely stay on one suggestion that may help atleast to get an inspection would be to dissconnect sensors to that paticular wheel shut off engine and restart when light is off dissconnect batter for 5 mins then reconnect tghis will reset computer inside possibly giving you enough time to get an inspection befoere computer resets and abs comes back on however it is not guarented to work depends on severit y of damaged sensor and how quickly you module can reset note that this is a temo fix abd sensor will not prevent any stopping or cause danger to braking system it will infact stil engage possibly not on that wheel but that is the problem with an abs as apposed to just a standard anti lock braking system more sensor to break and cost hundreds
