Wont start first time rough idle

A somewhat rough Idle can be usually found in a three cylinder car, thats okay. can it be tuning? does this happen with the AC on?

Hi, try to clean your Idle control valve, maf sensor, fuel filter and most important1 clean throtle body, try that to start, c how you go.

simple test for a vacuum brake booster
star and run the engine at idle without applying the foot brake
if it gets worse when the foot brake is applied , it is a vacuum leak in the booster ( replace the booster )
otherwise check for failed vacuum hoses including under dash control lines , vacuum leak at the manifold or EGR unit

what was the worst about the pump?I don't know what that means? the no heat could be a clogged core, try to flush it in both directions and make sure water flows freely. As for the rough idle... is the car overheating or pushing out coolant? if so there could be head gasket issues?>?

White smoke is a sign of water/condensation (due to the coolant additive)......worst case scenario, you have a head gasket leak (minor at this stage), or you simply need a tune up......as white smoke on cold start up could be normal...has it just started happening, or have you only just started noticing it ???

When was the last time it has been serviced (plugs, oil etc)

no, the cat has nothing to do with idle, even if it failed it will only give problems if it fell apart and clogged the system and in that case you wouldnt have any top end power.
As far as why its running rough or getting hot fast someone will need to look at *** to make sure you didnt mess up but the hot issue shouldnt have anything to do with maybe having the timing off.

check for a small vacuum leak speciallythe lines going to the throtle have someone look at it while you seat onthe car , idle ,FOOT ON THE BRAKE ! a way to test for leaks if to spray a lil wd40 around the lines an listen if the idle gets better or worst, sometimes the reason the engine runs to rough or lean are vacumm lines that are slightly broken.

dont drive make sure you get the timeing belt put on buy a good repair place. one that wont burn you up belt might be 60 bucks but that engine is 2000.00 used . the worst option is that it might need turbo is there smoke . or rough idle comeing from turbo blade will make a nose if it is going out start and listen to turbo if it coming from there turbo . i should have one used for about 300.00 plus shipping [email protected]

Clean the throttle body and reset the idle. Also check the O2 sensor. I am having the same problem with my 01 tt
