On my wifes 03' Yukon the rear air conditioning blows hot air no .... Pull the panel off and look at the hot/cold actuator shown in the picture.
In my case (1995 S10) it was as simple as the temperature control potentiometer. The pot contacts were crushed, God knows what breaks and shorts happened there. Replaced the pot and all works like a charm.
Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly. You have a leaking heater coil. Check your radiator coolant levels and I am certain that over several days you will note your car is suddenly using water. That sweet oily smell is anti-freeze. Many people bypass the heater coil lines in the engine compartment until they can get the heater core replaced.
Bypassing the heater core is done by disconnecting the lines forward of the firewall in using a pipe nipple or piece of copper tubing with clamps. I recommend you either bypass the lines or have the heater core replaced ASAP. You run the risk of overheating your engine from coolant loss.

the hot water line from the engine goes through a valve that is controled by the temp control on your dash,older ones were cable control, the newer ones are usually vacuum controled,look for a vacuum leak at valve or dash control
1)Air trapped in system
2)plugged radiator
3)collapsed heater hoses while engine is running
4) heater control valve
5) blend door motor for hot/cold (VERY COMMON)
If the engine is getting hot enough it sounds like the flow through the heater core is restricted. When it is hot turn the heater on and feel the radiator hoses. One should be real hot and the other a little cooler, not much. Try taking the heater hoses off and run water from a garden hose through them. Run both directions and maybe it will break something loose. You won't lose much antifreeze by unhooking the heater hoses.
first check and see if it has a thermstat installed or stuck open, second, make sure that your heater has not been bypassed by connecting the two hoses together
