I'm receiving conflicting information about the 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid w/the 1.3 L engine. I need to know whether this particular model's engine has a timing belt or chain. No one, including a local Honda dealer, seems to know for sure. This is very frustrating when a mechanic can't say for sure.... belt or chain. Anyone out there know for SURE, or do I need to post more info regarding the model or engine specs/numbers?

Thanks for the input, but it dawned on me to look down into the oil filler with an LED flashlight as that would most likely be where a chain would be found. Ding ding ding! The chain is visible beneath the strainer. Good news for 2004 Honda Hybrid owners. No super expensive belt replacement worries with this model.
