It could very well be a relay. You can test those with an ohmmeter. Are you not getting spark plug fire or not getting fuel pressure? You can remove one plug, place back on the plug wire, turn motor over and observe for spark. The end of the spark plug should be resting on a metal surface so you can see if a spark jumps from plug to metal surface. If you have spark you likely aren't getting fuel. You can place a rag over the fuel test port on the fuel rail after the cap is removed, then press in on the valve and see if there is fuel press. You can always get a fuel pressure tester or spark tester as well.
If the car starts after a wile, it tells me that the spark is OK. and the fuel is OK. what is the name of the relay that my be bad, I had the same problem with my ML-430, changed the relay, car is OK.
Check starter relay, fuel pump relay, ecm, and if needed, test your crankshaft position sensor which can cause intermittent starting problems.
