It's suspicious this poster keeps recommending Castrol brand. Perhaps he works for Castrol. The fact that we hang on to our old 98 Rav4 implies we can't afford to buy a newer vehicle. I use Walmart brand full synthetic motor oil, which is comparable to the expensive name brands like Castrol. I've shopped around, and Walmart Full Synthetic is the lowest price for full synthetic oil, which they sell in 1-quart and 5-quart containers.

If the temperature you are running until your next oil change is due will be below 50F average they recommend 5w30.
Otherwise 10w 30 is the choice.
