1999 Trooper, 3.5, automatic. When turning igition swich nothing happens, no click. Electrical system excellent. Dash lights up as normal. Operates shift lever several times. Replaced Starter Relay. Any suggestions on isolating the problem?
Try neutral start switch. Use shop manual to determine its location on an automatic vehicle. If vehicle is a stick its attached to clutch pedal via lever. To test it remove it from its connectors and make a jumper wire and jump the circuit if car starts you found your culprit.
Thanks. Having trouble finding neutral start switch. Dont have access to shop manual. Any ideas?
I don't have this vehicle's shop manual at this time (on vacation). try tracing the wires from starter relay. Purple goes to starter ,yellow wire neutral start wire comes from ignition switch to neutral start switch.

Thanks. neutral start switch tested OK. I tapped the starter with a hammer and it started right up. has started about 20 times since. should I be concerned and have it removed and inspected or repaired?
