My car starts fine and gets hot ,then shuts off after a few seconds .like it is not getting its fuel.So far changed filters and fuel pump still not working.thinking a sensor? already spent almost 1000 dollars in parts and nothing shows up wrong when tested.A wrench sign appears on the dash
This happen most of the time because your battery lines dirty or your battery is not ok first step is to clean your battery lines if it’s not working then change your battery....
So before you spend any money, I would check your shut-down relay- it might need to be replaced. Go to your fuse box on your car and find the shut-down relay and replace it with another one in there. For instance, if the air-conditioning relay is the same size, switch it onto your shut-down relay spot and see if your car works. If it does, then just go grab a new relay at your auto-parts store.
If thats not it, then I would definitely assume its the temperature sensor (ETC) which is located near the thermostat that twists onto your engine. It doesnt matter what the temperature is outside; if your ETC isnt working, it wont let your car continue running.
Hope this helps!
SOURCE: Fuel Pump Relay Switch
Underneath your hood, behind the passenger side headlight, behind the core support, is a bank of 2-8 relays. One of those relays is the relay needed for your fuel pump. There will also be a fuel pump relay fuse located there. The relay designation should be on the cover of the relay compartment.

Check AutoZone.com as they have an area where they can tell you where the parts are located on your car.
SOURCE: UNKNOWN PROBLEM
Just came from edmunds town hall, seems it's a common problem with the Grand Am (there's even a class action suit against GM over this) and the best solution seems to be to bypass the Secuirty Passlock system. Many Grand Am owners are stuck trying to reset the Security light by turning the key to ACC and waiting 10 min for it to reset, only to have it come on again later. Here's the link to the forum (almost 600 posts for same issue). I'd try a few of the remedies b/4 investing even more in a ECU which probably won't leave you any better off than you are now. Best of luck to you.

check the thermal switch for the second fan.disconnect the fan first and put 12v to it and see if it works.these are things i would check....fuse,relay, fan thermal switch(usually on the radiator,,and the fan itself.one fan is the cooling fan,the other fan comes on with the air conditioning.

usually if there is a security problem on the car , it has to do with the ignition cylinder being that is where the passlock is located . the module has to see a certain resistance when the key is turned to varify that the key is being used rather then someone breaking the cylinder apart when being stolen. Try when the security light is flashing , to leave the key in the on position for 10 minutes to see if the security light stops flashing ,make sure you battery is good , if this works , when the light stops flashing , the vehicle should start. if it does then replace the ignition cylinder and reprogram the module.
Its
a hot start issue.
Can
be related to low fuel pressure or problem with crank sensor.
Also
it can be weak battery or starter.
But
possibilities are to be inspected to confirm what exactly it is.------
