Dear Madam or Sir,

please remove the multi plug from the tank sensor, short the contacts in it with ignition switched on. Now the gauge should move to max.

If it does not do so, the gauge is defective.

Sounds like a venting problem with the gas tank. There is a vent for the tank that could be blocked and not allowing pressure to equalize.
Like sucking milk from a bottle without allowing it to vent.
The vent could involve the canister purge system.

Gas gauge stays on full

very common. The sender in the gas tank is the problem.
It will need to be replaced some day
Both my gas tanks do the same thing in my F250. 1 tank stays full all the time and the other drops from full to about a half tank when I get to half a tank and then works so so till empty.

FUELGAUGE STUCK ON MY 2002 FIREBIRD

There is a float in your gas tank that raises up and down. When you fill your car with gas it will move up, when your burning gas it will go down. So if your fuel gauge is stuck then your float in your tank is stuck and you won't know how much gas you have. To fix this you will have to remove the tank to fix the float. Hope this helps.
