My passenger door won't shut on my 2002 Town & Country Chrysler minivan. The latch is stuck in the forward position. I don't want to force it and break it.

I know on my ford ranger the switch is located inside the door such that when the door latch rotates around the lock pin, it actuates the switch. If you don't see the switch in the door jamb, pull the inside door panel off and take a look around, focusing on the area around the latch.
When you pull the trunk handle back towards yourself to open the trunk, it may be sticking in that position, so give the handle a tap to pop it back into its original position. Then shut the trunk and see if it has latched.
if your replacing it pry it out,, no worries,, as long as you have the housing removed, its just stuck,, try not to scar the mounting that holds it, But use a large screw driver and force the thing out,, be sure and replace it with the spring towards the motor
Look at the other door and look on the front edge to see where the child safety lock switch and see if that is the problem with the other door. That has happened with mine several times. Someone will play with it leaving it on so it can't be opened.
check the closing mechanism and see if it isnt locked down in the closed position, if it is stick your finger in there and pull it out like it would open while moving the door handle, if thats not the problem, see if there isnt a toy or something stuck in the tracks on the bottom or dirt and leaves on the top
Have you checked the Child proof safety switch which is a cut out for the passenger window... Otherwise you will need to check for proper voltage at the window regulator, you will have to dismantle and remove the interior door panel for this test...
Take the inner door apart, and take out the lock mechanism. Chances are it is rusty. Clean it up, make sure all moving parts move, and oil it well. Put it back together and it should work.
Seems like a problem with the Alarm. First disconnect the Alarm and if problem still persists then will have to trace step by step for a loose connection or relay malfunction.
