SOURCE: Will not start 96 blazer
Most engine computers will not activate the fuel pump relay if there is no oil pressure. Listen for a hum after trying to crank when you stop cranking. You can try spraying some starting fluid (Ether) on the air filter and trying to start it. If it still won't start with the ether, you may not be looking at a fuel problem. Check visually (never by touching) for a wet distributor cap or spark plug wires. Also check for cracking, blistering or burn marks on the distributor cap, ignition coil, spark plug wires or the ignition control module.

Check the crankshaft position sensor. If the plug is loose or the sensor itself is bad it will cause similar problems

I am not sure but you might want to check the pressure of the fuel pump.

If this engine is a VORTEC then you may have a problem with the internal fuel system. Under the top plenum there is a fuel reg and poppet valves that inject fuel into the cylinders. Sometimes the tubes that run fuel from the reg to the valves can leak and cause your problem. This cannot be found with pressure check because this occurrs after the reg. PS fuel mileage will go down. Let me know if this helps.Moe

this sounds like a vaccum line and can very hard to find but if you spray carb cleaner over them while its running and your motor starts to miss then you found it . hope that helps
