My alarm in my 2002 beetle keeps randomly going off? How do I fix this? Please say it's easy. I just spent $600 to fix the water pump and plan on selling it in the next month, so I really don't want nor do I have a lot of money to put into it.

Not sure what type of alarm you have but a factory fitted immobilisor wouldnt cause this so i assume that its an after market type of alarm which always cause problems ,if its this type of alarm then it should have a key operated switch on the alarm to turn it off.Cannot seem to quite get my head around your cost of 600 dollars to change a water pump on this vehicle but here in spain it would cost about 80euros for the pump 12 euros for 5 litrs of pure antifreeze and depending on the garage i would estimate about 150 euros top because it is only3 hrs work to change the pump and that includes a coffee break.

Disable factory alarm

The alarm tripping is often caused by a bad door or hood switch. Since the hood switch is always exposed to water and corrosion, that one usually goes bad first. Check that out. And no, you can't disable it.

2002 volkswagon beetle says that the trunk is when not.

The switch in the trunk which tells the alarm that the trunk lid is closed is either defective or not correctly adjusted. If this info is of no help to you, than you don't know enough to fix it. Take it to a reputable VW shop for repair.

ALARM RANDOMLY GOES OFF!!

the factory fit alarm is not voltage sensing .The best advice is to go to VW garage and get them to read the alarm causes,(they can check the last 4).this will give you a good idea where the fault lies.ie door lock mechanism, interior monitor etc..You cannot start looking for problem until you know alarm cause..
