First problem: My 1996 dodge neon still cuts off completely usually when idling but it does happen when driving. It feels like the smallest hiccup before it dies. After five to ten minutes it starts back up. I've changed the spark plugs, the ignition coil and fuel filter. Am currently looking for a new fuel filter. Problem two: My dome light is now staying on and will not shut off.
My 1196 dodge neon turns off when driving. No noise or anything, just stalls. Have to wait 10-15 minutes before ot starts again. Runs another 20 minutes and does it again. hi I assume this is a fuel injection vehicle and if so it sounds a lot like you have a throttle body problem or throttle sensor problem ,have you also checked that the fuel filter is not blocked, remove the fuel filter and blow thru it in the direction of flow and if your cheeks blow up while blowing thru the filter it is blocked or restricted -replace.
hope that helps .

It is located on the throttle body...usually back side. The diagram can usually be looked at from your local Auto Zone or Advance auto dealer. They sometimes have books that are already opened or will show you on the computer. The other place that this can be obtained is at the library. Good luck.
This sounds like the symptoms of a choke being left on, but of course you have a fuel injected car. Could it be a computer problem, too much fuel getting to the engine?
Go to autozone they have a free OBD 2 code reader. Start by finding out what that code is. It might be something as simple as an O2 sensor. Hope this helps.
