I believe these models have a transmission temperature sensor. If the transmission gets to hot it puts the car into limp mode until it cools down. A faulty sensor may be your problem. Also you may consider installing a transmission fluid cooler. Most cars have the transmission lines routed through the radiator to cool the fluid but radiators get hot. You want to keep the fluid as cool as possible. Ask your local parts supplier about a transmission cooler. There like 30 bucks but can save you a rebuild later :)

Ok....The pressure switch is inside the solenoid pack. If you just replaced that pack you need to reset the code cache. Try this...Unhook the cars battery for 2 minutes. While its unhooked turn the key on, the headlights ect just to drain any stored power. Hook the battery up and test drive the car. let me know if this works. :)

Y my 2001 dodge intrepid won't shift gears

Start with checking you transmission solenoid under the hood. These do go bad often. But also have you serviced the transmission regular this is vital to know. Speed sensors in the trans need to pick up movement also in order to know what to do these are called VSS sensors Vehicle Speed Sensors in these you have input and output. These should be removed and cleaned and tested for resistance to see if it is within range. 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 standard V8 4x4 - Difficult engaging or shifting into 4-wheel drive, some grinding when trying to shift 4-wheel gear shift?

!996 that's pretty old school, I don't think that has a shift on the fly feature. Maybe once the hubs are locked in.

1996 dodge intrepid 3.3 transmission wont shiftout of first gear

two issues here. this may be a low fluid issue. i would check the level of the fluid first. the next issue could be a blown shift solenoid. these are located inside of the transmission pan.also, check the filter as well.(transmission filter could be clogged)
