Re: where is the fan belt located on a suzuki swift?
It dosent have a fan belt it should be an electric fan mounted on your radiator if its making a squeeling belt noise its probly the altinator belt located on the righthand side of the engine bay.

that goes to the reservoir.
we dont have Swifts here this year. so cant print FSM page for one.
swifts have up to 7 engines, world wide, and guess what

The Suzuki Khyber is a small car manufactured and marketed by Pak Suzuki Motors, a subsidiary of Suzuki in Pakistan. However, despite all the shortcomings and serious quality criticisms.
98 and older suzuki swift torque is 54 ft. lb. 99 and newer are 49 ft. lbs.the sequence is starting in the center two then move to the adjacent two on the right or left, you choose, and then whichever you choose "hop" over the center two you tightened and tighten those two, "hop" over the center again to the farthest ones on outside and tighten them then "hop" over to opposite side and do those. basically working from inside out. this is the torque sequence for a 1.3l. same concept though for a 3 cyl.
Have you got any other brake lights working? If you have, that eliminates the brake switch or the wiring as a problem. In Australia, the only Swift with a boot lid was a 1.3 or 1.6 Swift Sedan. The rest were all hatchbacks and never had brake lights in them. Some of the sedans had fog lamps in the boot lid garnish (ie: a switch in the cab turned them on and off - not by the brake pedal). The rest just had a garnish panel that had no lamps in there at all. Of course, what is fitted to your car will depend on market specifications for your country.
with the belt off; turn the crankshaft to #1 piston top-dead-center. Next turn the camshaft until both valves on the #1 piston are closed; then: check the distributor to see that the rotor is pointing to #1 spark plug wire.(if not go around again until the rotor points at the #1 wire.) If you are correct you will now see the timing marks on the cam and, the crank pulleys. line up the mark on the belt to the marks on the pulleys and, slip the belt on; then tighten the belt.
hi, there are 3 bolts on the alternator if you losen the lower 2 first then the top 1, using a large screw driver as a lever between the engine and alternator pushing untill the belt is tight but not over tight or it will burn out, then tighten upper bolt then lower 2
