How do you remove door panel off a freelander 51 plate. Winder making a grinding sound and sticking at times all help welcome

Tools you will need:
1. Panel removal tool
2. Philips screw driver
3. 1/4 Ratchet with extension and 8 mm socket.
4. grease to lube new regulator. The first thing, is to remove the door panel:
1. Remove 2 screws securing hand rail to door.
2. Remove screw securing door handle escutcheon to door and remove the escutcheon.
3. Remove 4 screws securing pocket to door.
4. Carefully release 10 clips securing trim casing to door. (Best to use a door panel removal tool, the plastic clips break very easy)
5. Disconnect multi-plug from upper door speaker. Do the same for lower speaker
6. Remove trim panel from door.
7. Remove the plastic vapor barrier , care full not to destroy. (You may have to cut around some things such as the hand rail brackets.)
At this point you will be able to see the regulator and motor through the small holes in the door. At this stage a small flash light is very handy
to see such things as the power connector for the window motor.

1. Loosen the two bolts in the slotted holes, shown above.
2. Remove the remaining 4 bolts securing regulator assembly to door.
3. Lower glass and loosen the 2 bolts securing door glass to regulator. Then slide the channel bar forward to remove.
4. Disconnect the power from the window motor.
5. lift the window and secure in the up position ( I used Duct tape).
6. Collapse all the arms and maneuver the old regulator out the center hole in door. Assembly is basically the reverse of the removal procedures:
1. take the two screws that you partially removed out of the old regulator and install them partially install them into the new regulator.
2. Work the new regulator through the center hole.
3. Connect the power to the regulator motor.
4. Lower the window glass, take the channel that secures the glass to the regulator, insert it over the tow bolts that were loosened in step 2 above
5. Raise the window and secure.
6. Insert the 2 bolts on regulator through the keyed holes in the door and finger tighten.
7. line up the rest of the bolt holes and install the remaining two bolts in both the regulator and then tighten two bolts in step 6 above
8. install the two in the bottom channel.
9. Now is a good time to test..........
Then all that is left to install the hook up the speaker(s) and mount the door panel.
1. Position trim panel close to the door and connect door speaker(s) multi-plug(s).
2. Secure door panel to door with clips.
3. insert escutcheon to door handle and secure with screw.
4. Secure hand rail to door with two screws.
5. Fit pocket to door and secure with four screws."

Linkage has come off the winder motor behind the door card

dont know what a 51 plate is ,a 51 land rover would be manual adjusters with a B series engine which would be 12 inlet and 15 exhaust .points gap would be lucas 15th and plugs would be 25th ,didnt know they used this name freelander in 1951 ,come to think of it i didnt think they made land rovers till the middle 50s

It's usually the window winder that presents the problem . Remove all visable retaining screws ie; Grab handle , Internal door opening lever , Button on top of panel (if applicable ) etc . The majority panel are a pop snap on type . Remove the winder lever withthe aid of a shoe lace or thin piece of cloth material, The winder is retained by a horse-shoe shaped spring clip. .... Pull the shoe-lace/ material in the opposite direction of the winder retainer clip and it will easily come off, but it is a spring clip and may fly off so be careful. Good luck

get a new fuel pump and screen then drop the gass tank get hi pressuer clamp releasher dis conect the battrey releave the gas pressure on the fuel rail befor you themp to remove the clamps on the gas tanks the replace the whole fuel pump and screen note replace the fuel filter allso

THE ONLY WAY TO FIND AND TRY AND FIX PROBLEM THAT IS YOU'LL HAVE TO REMOVE THE DOOR PANELS THAT ARE MAKING THE GRINDING SOUND, AFTER YOU REMOVE THE PANEL TRY TO OPEN THE WINDOW WITH THE REMOTE AND THIS TIME YOU'LL SEE WHATS MAKING THE GRINDING SOUND...MY GUESS IS THAT THE GLASS COULD BE OF THE TRACK. AND WHEN YOU USE THE REMOTE THE FORCE OF MOTOR AND GLASS CAUSES THE GRINDING SOUND..

Get a coat hanger and make a small hook to remove clip the jesus clip. When it comes out you will say "Jesus where did it go".

Remove plastic studs from door closer. Unscrew three retaining screws. remove grab.
Unhook window winder retaining clip. Best done with small long-nose pliers. window winder retaining clip located inside plastic winder handle section. Will need to prise away winder handle from door slightly to expose clip. locate and gently pull clip from winder shaft.
unscrew door opener / lock assembly retaining screw.
gently prise lower trim retaining press studs from door. remove lower trim.
gently , from rear of door, pull upper trim from door and similtaniously prise upper trim press studs from door.
gently giggle door opener / lock assembly through upper trim . remove trim
gently with flat blade, peel off plastic dust sheeting.
access to inside off door is now possible.
Reassembly reverse of above

In addition to removing arm rest/door closer U need a special tool to remove the window winder from the inner panel . Once it is off you can remove the panel by dislodging the clips that hold it in place., move the plastic covering the innards , make the repair , and reassemble.

hi there, it will be one of two ways, either theres a little horse shoe shaped clip that sits inbetween the winder and the door panel, failing that then the middle of the winder should flick out and there will be a screw that screws through the winder and into the panel, hope this helps
