Hi, I work at a garage here in Kenya. Still learning stuff. Hope someone helps me on this so i can impress the boss. We have a Toyota Hilux D4-D 2KD engine. The problem is that when it reaches 3000 r.p.m, the check engine light turns on, the car does not rev anymore and there is a knocking sound from the engine. The car starts perfectly but as soon as it reaches 3000 r.p.m this problem occurs. The owner of the car went for diagnosis and it pointed to a faulty supply pump. we tried another supply pump but still no luck. Recently we changed the injectors but the problem still remains. Please guide me what else i can check. We have also changed the diesel filter and oil filter. I am aware i have to input the compensation codes on the injectors into the E.C.U but i think the problem is somewhere else.Note: There is no Mass Airflow sensor in this car. And we did change the map sensor but the problem still remains. i tried connecting it to Launch X-431 diagnosis machine. It gave me two fault codes. 1 was mass airflow sensor and the other it said Fuel System Leakage. I have checked fuel system but there is no problem there as well. This car is giving a big headache. Its a Toyota Hilux D4-d 2kd-ftv engine model year 2007. I also wonder why it doesn't have mass airflow sensor. But it does have a vacuum sensor and i did change it. I also tried another fuel rail solenoid but no solution.
Jambo Jambo. This problem, unfortunately is going to be in the fuel injector pump itself. If the veins are wearing it will begin to fail at high RPMs when the fuel demand is high. You are on the right track though. It is fuel. Replace the injector pump and time accordingly. Feel free to contact me if you need anything else.

I'm glad this was useful. I learned a little bit in the middle east if you can believe that. [email protected] if you need anything else.
Did you check on the rail pressure fuel return valve? Is it clogged or jammed up? To me it sounds like the rail pressure is too high. I am refering to the mechanical one attached to the rail near to the fire wall. Not the CR sensor. Since you mentioned there is engine knock. I am suspecting that is the little culprit hindering you..:) Give it a try..:)
Jason~
check turbo
i believe its the suction control valve needs to be replaced....its at the back of ur fuel high pressure pump.
Hie,im Petros from Mozambique, please check your turbo charger.
petross tell how does theturbo affect reving up

What would be the possible problem if there is no fuel supply on the engine of toyota hilux 2006 model. the engine starts but suddenly stops cause of none fuel supply.
Check suction control valve on supply pump, clean it
SCV ...replace.....
Ok, when it says" fuel leakage" there on the suction control valve there is an o ring which wears out with time. Fuel must be escaping through this.
Write your answer...i also have that same problem with the same engine if anyone can help can contact me on whatsapp +263 773159350
