2001 DODGE Ram 3.9L manual trans told. (m/t box is best )
5.9 L (360 cu in) V8
ram 1500 or up to 4000 or VAN?
NO TURBO correct?
no miles on car ;/engine, told, 250K or more? ever see car run perfect before?
we can not guess trucks, wiring is the same on all RAMs made 2001,. so I GUESS 1500 Pickup.

wants to fail hot.
340 is cam sensor errors
1391 Faulty Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) or CMP or they do not agree. called out of sync./
just those 2 tells me cam chain is bad. for sure sync failed.
the PCM can not correct errors cause buy cam timing jumping like mad. No it can not. (tiny yes super tiny play)
some of these 3.9 SM shows some have facing left cam chain tension'er, and is bad.
heads are push rod , OHV, not sohc or dohc.
or far worse problems or engine overheats and pings causing
sensor to go nuts with chain jogging.

wow 3.9 is distributor in 2001, 1/2 are 1/2 are not by Liter.

so the firing order not set wrong , correct?>

it goes between the trans and engine on the passenger side take off the inside cover to see it

Most transmissions work off the throttle position sensor.

change the cam and crank sensors -cam sensor is under the injector pump crank sensors behind starter

Code P1391 Loss of crank or cam sensors,P0340 No cam signal at the pcm. I would replace the crank sensor first. Your cam sensor is part of the dist. on 5.2/5.9 engines.

Do need you to know where the sensor is located ? If so it's located inside distributor housing, just below rotor on (3.9L-V6 5.2L-V8 5.9-V8) 8.0L-V10 cam sensor is located on the timing chain cover.

it is located below the fuel injection pump in timing gear housing..not easy to get at..1 bolt and electrical connector..goes in from behind into housing..injector pump is unit with all the fuel lines coming out of it..have replaced these sensors before
