The fuel level sensor is located inside your fuel tank

You have to drive your car up on metal ramps. Chock your wheel's, have your pressure relived, remove your negative battery terminal, have your fuel pumped out using drill powered pump or drive your vehicle to the reserve point. Loose your tank straps, and lower the tank. Unplug your electrical connectors and pull your tank out under vehicle so you can remove locking flange on top of the tank to remove fuel pump and sending unit out.Replace fuel level sending unit and reinstall it back.

SOURCE: How much can i expect to pay to have a fuel level

To replace the fuel pump calls for 2 hours of labor time.

So about 160 dollars (depending on labor time) plus cost of the part plus the shop supply fee.

They are the same. The level switch in the sending unit has shorted out. This will not affect the performance of the car. Like you said it only affects the gauge. The switch can't be purchased seperate from the sending unit. Just guessing yours is $400.00 to $500.00. I would live with out it untill the fuel pump went out. Just estimate the mileage with the amount (gallons) you put in.

2006 Nissan Pathfinder. I was driving my vehicle when I heard a sound like a spring popped and it hit the pavement and sound like metal but I could not find anything in the road. It still drives.

Get the suspension springs checked. Park the vehicle on a flat, level surface with no-one in it. Stand back and carefully look at the vehicle. Sometimes when a spring fails the vehicle will lean towards the broken side. The tail ends of the spring can break off when they are old and the broken bits don't always fall out when it happens.
The stall could be something separate. Do you have any warning lights on the dash? If the charcoal canister is starting to fail it often causes the check engine light to turn on as it will affect the emissions. This will trigger other engine sensors to flag up a trouble code.

How can I replace a fuel level sensor on a 2006 pathfinder se, and where is it

In the fuel tank

Maybe a Govt Required free part there for that

There is on the Frontier in 04 thru 06

Google the problem & read about that

Nissan Dealers are some of the worst to deal with,
& won't do a thing for you, they could care less about
the govt recalls, just like GM

Get your info together, if it applies & a letter from
an attorney & that will get your new fuel tank sensor

I ve nissan pathfinder 2005 model, service engine soon light on. we used a consul and got fault code PO463 fuel level sensor high input. right now car will not start. advice

failure rate of these sensors is very high .nissan extended the warranty period on these rather than issuing a recall.contact local dealer replacement would almost certainly be under warranty.as for no start there is currently a campaign to replace ecm relays for this issue but since obviously your fuel gauge isnt accurate you may just be out of gas.
