It starts with the security light and then gets worse till the car won't start anymore. The security system (VATS/Passkey) installed on these GM cars is anti-owner more than an anti-theft. There are 3 parts involved:

  1. The chip-key
  2. The lock cylinder
  3. The TDM (aka the brain of the system)
if any of these parts fails or is even slightly malfunctioning, the car stays stuck where you are and you only get a dealer asking you about 1,000$ to fix it. And all the 3 parts have a quite short lifespan. Way too many people got in this situation (including myself). I don't recommend any partial solution or any used parts as it would happen again way too soon to be acceptable and if it happens 100 miles from home (like it happened to me....) it's a big burden. I finally made it to save my beloved 94 Park Avenue (with the exact same system that is installed in your car) with a solution that I found on the internet and that bypasses the entire factory security system, all 3 pieces altogether and you can even remove the TDM at the end and use 99c keys without chip. The product I used is at http://newrockies.com and is still working perfectly after 5 years. Don't go to the dealer!

How do i disconnect factory RS3000 security system 1996 Toy. Camry LE V6?

You can't disconnect professionally installed or factory installed security systems because they are there to stop exactly what you are trying to do. OEM Factory systems are controlled via a security module or the ECM. Also, ALL cars need the key fob. You have to fix the things that are wrong, not find way around defeating it.

First thing is remove the carpets, remove the water, and spray WD40 into any connectors that you find that were under water.

2009 chevy traverse wont start after hooking amp up car was fine

OK. you had the battery disconnected. Here is what you do. Turn on the key. The security light will begin to flash. Wait (about 10 minutes) with the key in the ON position. The security light will stop flashing. TURN OFF the key. Then, turn on the key and start the car. Security system is supposed to prevent theft for a 10 minute delay. This usually discourages any thief. This will work, You just need to be patient with the 10 minutes. It seems like an hour when you wait ten minutes for that security light to stop flashing.

How do I reset the anti theft system on my Suzuki XL7? A new battery was installed and messed my system up

which one.
radio antitheft
car doors. (alarms) Content Theft Deterrent (CTD)
or immobilizer.
say what messed up means.?
the CDC system must be armed with the fob.
is that failing? I can not arm the system or it will not disarm. on my command?

my guess is arming. fails

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Exit the vehicle.
  3. Important: The system is not armed if the doors are locked manually. The keyless entry transmitter or the door lock switch must be used to arm the CTD system.
  4. With a vehicle door open, lock the doors by pressing the LOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter or by pressing the LOCK button on the door lock switch. The system will begin the arm sequence when all doors are closed. The CTD system transition to the arm delay state when the final door is closed. The security indicator will illuminate steady when in the arm delay state.
If the keyless entry transmitter LOCK button is pressed after the vehicle doors have been closed, the system will transition directly to the arm delay state with the indicator on steady.
  5. The system will arm approximately 30 seconds from the time that the system has entered the arm delay state. When the security indicator transitions to flashing slowly, the system is armed.
Alternately, if the LOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter is pressed a second time, the system will arm immediately, bypassing the 30 second delay.
if this fails try the Second fob.
if the 2nd fob fails, then pull the battery neg lug, for 5 minutes
and put it back.

the full system rules are in the book called, FSM
seen here, read it for who to diagnosis this problem if it continues
just 4 bucks to read all facts
https://suzukipitstopplus.com/Products/10182-2007-xl7-service-manual.aspx

the book also tells you all things messed up with battery pulls.

good luck.

The red security light comes on in my buick century 2000 and sometimes it starts and sometimes it doesn't! it may take 5 minutes to start or sometimes an hour!1! please can i disconnect a fuse or

If it is an aftermarket system you should be able to disconnect it.
You may have to look for extra wires attached to the fuse box to find the source of power.
Factory systems usually have the word security in the cluster.

theres no reason the disconnect the battery. gm security systems will not allow it to crank, so if it cranks, but not start, its not a security issue.

Is it difficult to replace the combination light switch

It all depends on the tools you have and if you have patience....this is the task for removing and replacing the switch:

Removal & Installataion
CAUTION These models covered are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which uses an air bag. Whenever working near any of the SRS components, such as the impact sensors, the air bag module, steering column and instrument panel, disable the SRS and refer to the precautions in the Chassis Electrical Section.

  1. Make sure the steering wheel is in the center position (wheels in the straight ahead position)
  2. Remove the key from the ignition.
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable first, then the positive cable.
  4. Wait 10-20 minutes for the back-up power to discharge. Do NOT proceed until the back-up power is discharged from the SRS system!
  5. Remove the driver’s side air bag module and steering wheel, as outlined under the Steering Wheel Removal & Installation procedure in this section.
  6. Remove the steering column nacelle, as follows:
    • Open the fascia lower access panel.
    • Remove 3 screws securing steering column nacelle halves together.
    • Release clips securing nacelle together and remove from steering column.

Release front wiper delay connector (3) from column switch mounting bracket and disconnect from harness. Disconnect the wiper switch connector (4), then remove the switch mounting screws (5)

To install:
  1. Install the new switch to bracket and secure with screws.
  2. Connect harness connector to switch.
  3. Connect front wiper delay connector and Install the connector to switch bracket.
  4. Install the passive coil to column lock.
  5. Install the rotary coupler, as follows:
    • Install the rotary coupler to steering column and connect connector to harness.
    • Connect rotary coupler connector to harness and secure to bracket.
  6. Install the steering column nacelle, as follows:
    • Position the nacelle to steering column and secure with clips and screws.
    • Close fascia lower access panel.
  7. Install the steering wheel and driver’s air bag module, as outlined in this section.
  8. Connect the positive, then the negative battery cables.

Delay in Start on 2000 Grand Cherokee Ltd 4.7 engine

To check the solenoid internal contact, you'd need to remove the starter and remove the solenoid cover. Inside you will find a brass wheel that contacts the positive battery lug. You can remove the wheel and reverse it and turn the lug 180 degrees, providing new contact surfaces. Seems that you've done just about everything else. You can also use a test light attaching it at different points to find where the actual delay is occurring. Normally security will allow cranking but will not allow starting.

Chevy Impala delayed starting after removing radio

no this is not a radio problem. disconnect your aftermarket acessories and plug your radio as it was from factory and see if u still have this problem. there is probably a problem with communication because of your fm modulator or your ipod. radio does not cause a security problem on this year vehicle
