Hi Friend:

#1) On your Model you have a Clutch Master Cylindr, Check your Resevoir to see it its FULL of Fluid.

#2) If it is Then you need to Check to See if when you Push the Clutch Down its Pushing the Pin or Accuating Arm Under your Vehicle on Right Side of Car. You'll need a Helper to Push the Clutch.

#3) If its Not Moving the Rod to your Throw Out Bearing Accuating Arm Then You'll need to Replace the Master Cylinder and Possibly Your Slave Cylinder Underneath Its what Pushes the Pin To Disengage your Clutch.

#4 If its Moving and Pushing the Pin.Then Your Throw Out Bearing is Bad or Your Clutch and Pressure Plate.

#5) Which to Replace These you'll have to Pull the Transmission to Remove and Replace them with New Ones.

I hope this has helped you Please let me Know by Voting for the Solution I have Given You. Thanks For Using FIXYA From: d_hubbs

1998 Ford Escort ZX2 Clutch replacement

Clutch life depends entirely on how the clutch has been treated. If it hasn't been driven abusively, it could conceivably last the life of the car. To try it out, put it in top gear around 30mph and floor the gas. If the clutch is going to slip anywhere, it's here. If the car gains speed without the RPM shooting up, the clutch is fine and you should have no worries about her making it safely across the country.

I need to adjust my clutch on a 1998 ford zx2

Your vehicle has a hydraulic clutch, and there really is no "adjustment." Verify fluid level in the clutch fluid reservoir, and consider replacing clutch plates if you are experiencing slipping.

How to change clutch on 1998 ford escort

Got a car lift? Got a tranny jack? Got a clutch alignment tool? How about a good set of mechanics tools? If you've got all the above, get a Chilton's or a Haynes manual and good luck! If not, find a reputable local repair shop, bite the bullet, and pay the freight!

Clutch master cylinder

The master cylinder is mounted directly behind the clutch pedal in the fire wall. A push and twist design. If you are intending to remove it don't forget to unplug the sensor(mounted on the rod) first.

There are 2 master cylinders on the escort, one for brakes, and the other for the clutch. You put the fluid in the master cylinder.

Escort Van? Never saw one. Best thing to do is get on www.partsamerica.com and type in your vehicle info. Choose the clutch section and you will see cable or hydraulic. I've never seen it with both listed.
