Check engine light came on and I have a loss of power, and an apparant loss of turbo boost. Its a 1998 Dodge 3500 turbo diesel. I just bought it and put 130 miles (two days) before this problem. Any ideas and how do I check the fault codes?

What would be the most likely cause of intermittent loss of power and turbo boost and rough idling on a volvo f16 diesel engine

faulty injectors or faulty injector control
loss of power is fuel problems ( pump or injectors )
loss of turbo boost is lack of extra fire from the combustion --back to injector or control and bad idling is injectors squirting/ not squirting and not atomizing properly

Dodge 3500 diesel trouble codes

the code is for low turbo boost which may have been caused by the snow.if you arent detecting any power problems try unhooking the batteries for about 10 min to clear the codes or take it to like and auto zone or advanced auto and have them clear the codes. if the light comes back on you may need to take it to the dealer because it may have a bad turbo ..a bad sensor ...or and air leak in the charge air system

Loss of power

This sounds like a boost leak, the 12 valves are pretty bullet proof.

Make sure that all the hoses are on (not partially slipped off) between the turbo and the engine. There are 4 hoses which gives 8 places for boost leaks. Look closely, they can be tricky to find. This will usually also cause more black smoke when under load.

If you live in the rust belt, take a look at the intercooler, they can corrode through. A boost gauge connected to the intake plenum of the engine make a real good diagnostic tool for this.

Can you hear the turbo spooling up? If yes do you hear an air noise... could a number of things from bad turbo, air to air leaking or its piping, or something simple like a clogged fuel or air filter.
