Until you have actually tested components like the crankshaft sensor and the ignition module and the actual fuel pressure it anyones guess. Recommening a part without any data or testing informaation can get more expensive than if you just let a shop fix it for you. Go to mitchell1diy online if you don't know what to do and you have the ability and tools to diagnose this otherwise your most likley going to end up in the shop.

97 dodge ram stoped getting fuel want start

Check the fuel filter, and check for electrical power to the fuel pump. The fuel pressure regulator may be bad, but usually those fail by allowing full flow all the time, which leads to flooding on start, and a strong odor of raw fuel in the exhaust at low RPM.

Note: most modern vehicles (after 1982) are fuel-injected and have electric fuel pumps. They don't have carburetors; they have throttle bodies, which are somewhat like the bottom half of a carburetor.

Where is the asd relay on a 1998 dodge ram 1500

won't start means what,
will not crank./?if silent is the starter relay not clicking (now)
or cranks fast and will not start or does for 3 seconds and stalls?

in the fuse relay box , mostly in the engine bay
lost the operators guide? out of glove box.
will not crank at all (silent)
or cranks fast but will not start
or starts and stalls fast or slow. ????
will not run and stay running
yes engines can do that ,.

The ASD is the controlled by the PCM.
if the PCM sees danger it drops the relay
one danger is the PCM sees spark bad. and cuts fuel dead by dropping the ASD., dead on PURPOSE
for sure prevents FUEL fire, CRASH AND BURN as seen on TV
USA car, not told
USA A scan tool so it can tell you what is wrong in 1 minute flat.
buy one, rent or barrow one.?
step 1 is check all fuses. then scan it.
My first ASD was in my 88 jeep.
they could call it the ESD, emergency shut down relay or panic relay.
PCM logic controls it ONLY IT. !!!!!
NO anti-theft option on car or its LAMP angry.
right, ?
ASD causes of what?
11 pages on ASD
fuse 6 or 9 blown. bingo. ASD dead as a door nail. JB and Power center.
ASD dead injector power will be DEAD fully
ASD DEAD , ALL SPARK COILS HAVE NO POWER NOW

the asd coil pin low side is grounded (a transistor)
below see the PCM pin that does that.
and as I told you the PCM will kill the ASD on purpose for
at least 2 reasons (IMMO not happy) or senses spark dead
or he pre_cursors of spark dead, CMP or CKP (Or out of sync)
or the spark coil primaries dead.
but you failed to use a scan tool and work blind.

asd-undefined-undefined-0.jpg to use the scan tool do this
  1. connect to OBD2 port 16pin at knees.
  2. tool on.
  3. key on, crank until it stalls. crank for 10 seconds.
  4. release the key do not turn it off
  5. let the scan too scan add see P03xx errors. DTC.
  6. now key off. only NOW.

Engine cranks good but will not start.

did you check all fuses with a meter ?
you are new to jeep repairs.... here are some facts.
jeeps have ASD relay.
when car dont start, see what the ASD relay is doing
do not throw parts, you picked the most hard and expensive thing to change on a lark. why do that?
the fuel pressure gauge is $20 and takes 5min to see that fuel pressure is good. not pulling the tank and pump. for fun.
why do that.? (seen 100000 times on forums, this....)
here is mr. ASD, and what to check.
the ASD can cut fuel and spark for many causes. x8

http://www.fixkick.com/Jeeps/ASD.html

automatic shut down relay.

does the relay close cranking? y/n ?
if yes, does it then drop out cranking, y/n?

those are the first 2 tests on all jeeps 1993 to now.

each check discovers what is wrong
so does attaching any OBD2 scan tool and cranking
for 5 long seconds and behold, DTC errors.
got DTC errors cranking/??

BINGO x10.

Truck won't start cold, fuel pump relay and a.s.d relay clicking no fuel or spark. eventually when the clicking stops I hear the fuelpump run and with some difficulty I can start the engine. it runs pretty...

I would replace the A S D relay. it's located in the fuse box under the hood. It's inexpensive at the dealer. My ASD relay was acting up, and it wanted to bog down while driving, and sputter pulling away from a red light. once it finally goes, the vehicle won't start at all.

I hope this helps

1999 Dodge Ram 1500 cargo van will not start

If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while visually check for spark at the spark plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Also, check fuel injector pulse.
If your missing several system, an example, at the ignition coil and fuel injectors, engine cranking, check the dark green wire with orange tracer for voltage? If no voltage that leads back to asd relay. I'm not saying the relay is faulty. Your computer has to see both the cam and crank sensor signals or it may not ground the asd relay. The asd relay supplies voltage to several systems.

1995 Ram 1500. Just died? No votage to coil, no spark?

The power supplied to the fuel pump, ignition coil, fuel injectors and parts of the power module is controlled by the logic module through the Automatic Shutdown Relay (ASD):
The ASD relay is closed (allowing power to flow through it) when the ignition is first turned on. If the signal from the ignition reference is lost while the engine is running, the logic module cuts power to the ASD, which in turn removes power from the fuel pump, ignition coil, injectors and those parts of the power module.  This causes the engine to shut down.

Failure of the automatic shutdown relay is often shown as inexplicable stalling or refusal to start. The ASD can be triggered by a broken wire or short in another place, e.g. the fuel pump.  Hope this helps, and did you try to retrieve any DTC codes?? Be glad to help friend.

Jeep won't start until a clicking sound comes from fuse box

The click you hear is the fuel pump relay. It gets its signal to energize from the PCM.If you have a faulty Crankshaft Position Sensor, the PCM will not work. Check for a bad fuel pump relay and also all of the other sensors: Camshaft Position Sensor, MAP Sensor, Idle air Control, Intake Air Sensor, etc.
