Crank sensor may be bad. Crankshaft Position Sensor OPERATION Fig. 1: The CKP sensor trigger wheel rides on the front of the crankshaft. The missing tooth creates a fluctuation of voltage in the sensor will crank but not start - 91194p63.jpg
The Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor is a variable reluctance sensor that uses a trigger wheel to induce voltage. The CKP sensor is a fixed magnetic sensor mounted to the engine block and monitors the trigger or "pulse" wheel that is attached to the crank pulley/damper. As the pulse wheel rotates by the CKP sensor, teeth on the pulse wheel induce voltage inside the sensor through magnetism. The pulse wheel has a missing tooth that changes the reading of the sensor. This is used for the Cylinder Identification (CID) function to properly monitor and adjust engine timing by locating the number 1 cylinder. The voltage created by the CKP sensor is alternating current (A/C). This voltage reading is sent to the PCM, it is used to determine engine RPM, engine timing, and is used to fire the ignition coils. prev.gif next.gif

Gas no pumping , car does crank

if this is a fuel injection system its possible that the fuel pump has seized when you last turn off the motor.the brushes and comutator in the pump wear out and sometimes they will work fine then the next time you go to start it they seize and won`t start.

My 1996 ford bronco wont start. My wife drove home from work parked over the weekend and was going to work on monday and it wont start it turns over fine and its getting spark but idont hear the fuel pump....

i would start simple on this and check the fuel pump relay first. there not that expensive you can try to replace if you cant find specs to test it. if that does not work then i would say its your fuel pump that went out.

My truck did this after I replaced the fuel pump. Turned out to Fuel Pressure Regulator. It would crank and crank but never start. It's located underneath the black plastic manifold on the side of the injectors.

99 Sunfire Coolant keeps dumping

You need to find the source of the leak. it hasn't overheated yet because you keep catching it and re-filling. From your description, it sounds a lot like a bad water pump seal (part of pump) but without physically looking you can't be sure of that. when the pump seal begins to fail, internal pressure while running often will drive the seal tighter against the shaft stopping the leak. as pressure drops as the engine cools, the seal relaxes and permits seepage.
With time, that will change and it will leak all the time.

My 1997 Dodge Avenger's engine won't start

Try cam and/or crank sensor. If crank to cam timing isn't detected properly it'll crank all day but won't start. I had similar problem on my 2.5L V6 Avenger....drove home fine, no engine light, next morning it cranked, but wouldn't start. The crank sensor was faulty.
