A few possibilities:

tire out of round / bent rim, out of balance tires.

there is a suspension component in the front called the steering dampener, it can also be called a track bar. if this has gone bad, it can cause i violent shake under the right conditions.

good luck!

How to get Drive cycle

1. The testing has to start with the vehicle under 122 degrees F. Start the engine and idle for 2.5 minutes in Drive (auto) Neutral (MAN) A/C and rear defogger ON.

2. A/C OFF, accelerate to 55 MPH at 1/2 throttle and then 3 minutes of steady state cruise at 55 MPH.

3. Clutch engaged (MAN) no braking decelerate to 20 MPH.

4. Accelerate to 55-60 MPH at 3/4 throttle and 5 minutes of steady state cruise at 55-60 MPH.

5. Decelerate, no braking to end the drive cycle.

In some cases the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will go into a logic lock not letting the readiness monitors run. Removing the battery cables and touching the two together will normally take care of the logic lock condition.

My 2002 2 wheel has vibration in front end whan i go 55-60 miles per hour. alot of shake in the steering wheel also. what could be the culprit

Hi Mikey. Take the vehicle for wheel balancing and alignment. Get the technician at the centre to inspect the steering and suspension linkages while he's doing the alignment, but I think wheel balancing will sort out your problem. Regards John

2000 expedition shakes violently when hitting the right kind of bump in the road at 55-80 mph everything in the front end is good what could this be ?

Jeeps have this problem a lot, they call it the death wobble! On the ford it depends on if you have a 2 or 4 wheel drive vehicle, 2 wheel drive have your alignment checked, I've been fooled by them, and if it's a 4x4 you most likely have a bad steering stabilizer shock..

2005 EQUINOX AWD HAS A BAD SHAKE VIBRATION WOBLE IN IT WHEN ACCELERATING BETWEEN 35 AND 55 MPH GOES AWAY WHEN YOU LET OFF GAS, TOOK REAR DRIVE SHAFT OUT AND DROVE IT, STILL HAD SHAKE/WOBLE/VIBRATION

COULD HAVE LOW AND HIGH SPOTS IN THE BRAKE ROTORS.CHECK TIRES FOR DEFECTS.COULD NEED FRONT END ALIGNMENT OR BAD WHEEL BEARINGS CAUSE WHEELS VIBRATION.

1990 Honda Accord. Speedoometer is WAAAY off--going 15 mph the speedometer barely moves, yet 55 mph shows up as 80 mph. But the odometer reads correctly--even at "80"mph I can guage the speed off...

The speed sensor is malfunctioning on the transmission.I would not fix it as a result of the age of the car.Simply use a GPS for a more accurate speed

1999 Suzuki Grand Vitara Vibrate/shake at 55-70 mph

Lift the back of your car. With a stable rest and with the two hind wheels hanging, run your car up to the speed where you experienced vibration. have someone take care of the throttle and shifting while you observe the transmission shaft. You may have an imbalanced shaft.
