Hello, the water pump is the heart of Chevrolet cooling system, circulating the coolant. Follow this steps for changing your water pump:

1. Place a drain pan underneath the radiator. When the engine is cool, drain the cooling system from the radiator into the pan.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

3. Remove the accessory drive belt guide and the accessory drive belt.

4. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts and remove the water pump pulley along along with the water pump from the engine.

5. Install the new water pump along with the new gasket, tighten the bolt to 89inch.

6. Reinstall the water pump pulley, tighten the bolt to 18 foot ponds.

Overheating problems for 1987 chevy K5 Blazer

Is it possible the replacement engine has a water pump that turns the opposite direction from the original ?
The thermostat has to be open to allow flow thru the radiator, have you tried running without a thermostat to check flow ?

I have a 1985 K5 Blazer, I think the fuel pump went out yesterday, I put gas in it Wend. night and when I got home I could smell gas pretty bad. When I went to start it yesterday it just cranked but...

I think you need to get to a mechanic. If you smell gas, then your fuel pump is pumping it out, gas is not getting burned properly and it is being dumped either via a leak or incomplete combustion. You have some type of problem with your intake or combustion system which needs attention.

Have a 1985 chevy blazer k5, and all of a sudden it wont start... no spark!!! replaced ignition module and coil, but still same problem......somebody help please!

Check the ignition switch located under the dash on the steering column. Check to see if you hear an electric switch go on when you first turn the key on.

Replace a steering column on 1989 chevy k5 blazer

The best thing to do is to buy a Chilton,s repair manual. It has step by step procedures. You can get one at most auto parts stores. They coast anywhere from $10-$30 dollars.

Rpm running high when park

well. your idle is just high. you can get a screw driver and find the idle screw on the throttle body. . and jsut adjust there , , that is if there are no problems.

now it also maybe a leaky intake. . . . but i think its jsut more of a small adjsutment. . 8)
