I was driving home in my 2000 VW bug, and out of no where the engine light came on. A few seconds later, the battery light went on and my car just turned off. I tried starting up the car, and it would do a "chug" noise like it's trying hard to get started. The battery isn't dead, and an hour later I tried starting the car again and it started. Even though it's running, I don't want it to risk shutting down on me again. What could be wrong with the car?

Light's came on due to your alternator is defective, it's not putting out voltage any more and will have to be replace, the reason it started later, is your battery recharge itself, engine will only run till battery get low on voltage again, have the charging system check out, hope this was very helpful.

VW Rabbit 2009, EPC light and P0322 code. Ignition needs to be cranked 4-5 seconds before car starts.

P0332 = Crankshaft position (CKP) sensor/engine speed (RPM) sensor - no signal.
The sensor monitoring the RPM's of the engine isn't communicating with the vehicle's ECU, (brain). This could explain the difficulty starting the engine.

I have a 2000 Subaru Outback and recently the ABS light came on while driving out to my parents'. When I got there, I called our mechanic and made an appointment for later in the week to have it...

Here is an idea. Check the connections between the battery and the car's ground and the starter. Then find the ground cable which connects the engine to the car and check the connections there as well. Often times odd ball electrical problems are caused by a faulty ground, especially when there is a starter issue. May help, costs nothing but a few moments of your time, and once in a dozen times it is the problem.

Check engine light came on when cold weather killed battery

Scanner must be used to turn this light off almost every parts stoor will do this at no cost to you. Hey wish you were close to me that $550. looks like a good sum to pay at 40,000. I would not pay that at all. Have the check engine light turned off and drive it till it comes on again then return to the auto parts stoor and they will read the failure code and tell you what part you need.

2000 vw check engine light on, oil fine

Ignor it, or if it really annoys you disconnect the battery for a few minutes and it will reset. My 2001 check engine light is on every time it rains(often) many times it resets on it's own within a few days. My guy is a mechanic and it runs fine, so its usually just a cranky bug. Or you can buy a code reader at pep boys or an auto store and it will tell you the codes associated with the light.
