I just bought a 2000 ford expedition for my wife and dont know the old code to reset so she can have a new one on the dooor panel. how do i do this

we have 2000 exped. and seller didnt know code. Heard that it is located in the rear of the truck where the bumper jack is... and i couldn't figure it out. Went to dealer...yikes!! and paid 50.00 to have it reset to factory. had to weigh fustration...locked in keys... and inconvience against my time of not figuring it out.... took 15 minutes at ford....

a mobile locksmith could make you a new key for around $100, provided the key doesn't have a securty chip

You have to get the factory code from the dealer,
if you have no original white plastic card, that came
with it new.

Then you can change it to what you want

there are some screws under the hood next to the radiator if u bought one that is not the same size u need to cut it by using the old grill.there are two screws in the top and two in the bottom and the old grill comes out

You are having a catastrophic misfire that will destroy the catalytic converter unless repaired soon. You may need a tune up or a 02 sensor repaiered but you will need scan tools to test what codes is being thrown.

You can get this code from your Ford Dealer based on your VIN. Take your VIN, your car and your sweet self along with proof that you own the vehicle to the Service Manager and ask him or her for help.

Have you checked under the driver steering column? Mine was located here on a white sticker.
