This is an indication of a bad motor mount. ask someone to watch the engine as you let out the clutch with the Em: brake set. They can watch the engine move and tell which way it moves the most, this is the side that has the bad mount. Try it in forward and reverse. The engine is moving enough for the belt to hit the pass. side motor mount and or the fender well. Thank you for using Fixya.
Ok. Your serpentine belt being ripped apart means the pulley's are not in align. You have to look and see where the faulty pulley is and replace it. this should hold your belt in alignment. The jerking could be because of a faulty motor mount. Have it put up on a hoist and tell shop what you are experiencing. I'd be willing to be they find its a bad motor mount that has worn our rubber on it....good luck!
