It is inside the transmission under the belly pan mounted to the valve body. You just remove the transmission pan (not the transmission for heavens sake) and replace the shift solenoid pack.
if it is a 3.2 v6 it is internal you have to remove the timing belt cover on the front of the engine the water pump is driven by the timing belt it would be wise to replace timing belt at the same time
