It sounds like the inertia reel has locked under tension and needs some slack in the belt to free it off. or You may have activated the ALR locking feature (used for strapping in child seats). This is usually done by fully extending the belt, it then makes a slight clicking sound as it retracts and does not release and spool out again until it is allowed to fully retract. i think these units range 200-400$usd to replace but all hope is not lost you can still try to get it to go back.

trying a side to side motion at the same time you try to pull it out, also try pulling the buckle up and back instead of down/forward if that doesnt work the next one is a little bit harder and most likely what the dealer would try.
You'll need to fit yourself in the gap between the floor and the upright seats. There is a seatbelt strap that attaches to the floor under the seat which can be unbolted which then releases tension on the belt unit. Make sure you keep hold of the belt, then once tension has gone, get some slack and attach a safety pin to the upper part of the belt to stop it being pulled back into the unit.
if you need further assistance please let me know and i will assist you from there.

SOURCE: rear seatbelt stuck in retracted position

the only thing you can do because of design is replacement. it is designed to lock with forward momentum and if its stuck now, it will do it again. happy holidays

SOURCE: 2000 nissan altima: driver side seatbelt is in

Take the bolt out of the top of the seat belt and release the pressure on it.If this doesnt work the safety module will have to be replaced.

SOURCE: 2006 honda civic rear middle

hi it sounds like the safty mechanisum in the belt has been activated some how this happens when a ball bearing falls down into a safty postion and locks the belt up into place you can strip and remove the little ball bearing and have your seat belt working again but no longer will act as it should in a crash so i would strongly advise to change the hole seat belt system .

My 2016 nissan sentra middle rear seat belt is stuck in the retracted position. I can't use the seatbelt. how do I get it to release?

The likely cause is a broken spring/mechanism in the belt coil. I'm sure you can get a replacement for this belt.

The back left seat seems to be stuck due to the locking of the middle seatbelt. Any idea on how to fix that?

When a seatbelt locks up it is usually due to dirt or corrosion in the automatic locking mechanism. The mechanism can't release because it is under tension. If you get into the cover that houses the release mechanism for the seatbelt, you may be able to hit it with a little wd-40. You do have to release that tension so that the lock will spring back to the open position and allow the seatbelt to retract. Try the lube. Sometimes the galvanized coating on the internal parts causes a seize.

Rear passengerside seat belt stuck in retracted position, cannot raise rear seat to upright position. how do I fix it?

You will most likely need to replace the seatbelt retractor. The best place to find a replacement is usually your local self service auto salvage lot. I replaced mine last year and it ran me $10 for the retractor and u pull and pay.

Rear seatbelt stuck behind head rest in locked position

haha we know you didnt do it on purpose, without seeing your problem and the hard to describe issue, i can only recommend to maybe try folding the seat to the cargo position, if that helps. if not, then you will more than likely need to disassemble the rear quarter panel, and unbolt the seat belt retractor from the body of the vehicle. sorry but there is no other way
