Car would only start with the remote starter, and now doesn't start at all. Tried tapping the starter while turning the key and wont start at all. Makes a click when it first starts, 2 seconds later another click and just wont start

It won't crank? Have you tried rapping the starter with a hammer-a light tap- to see if it will work? If that works, the starter is going out and needs replaced. Alternatively, take the starter off and have it tested for free at a parts store.
replace the starter as you have a armature/commutator problem
have it checked on the bench at an accredited auto electrical shop commutators/armatures can be bought separately to reduce cost of new starter
With a voltage meter see how many volts are at the starter terminal. If not 12+ volts you have a bad connection. Check connection at the starter solenoid. Does it have 12+volts? Short the solenoid. Does it put voltage to the starter?
this is a one time fix most times if it works.
with someone turning the key to the start position someone else hits the starter with a hammer not hard but a good tap.
may take some continus tap tap tap tap to get it out of it's dead spot but have seen this work 80% of the time if the starter has landed on a dead spot. sometimes you can restart the vehicle again other times not! hope this gets you going to the parts store at least.
good luck
sounds like a bad connection,it wont heat up the solenoid or the starter, check your hot and negative cables from battery to starter first could be the starter itself, ggod luck
Try and reset it by getting in car make sure every thing is off, close door's turn key to on and way about 10 mins or till light stop's flashing, then turn key to off and start engine.
Tapping the starter does not always work. I would check all the connections on the battery and starter. If these are good replace the starter. Don't forget the grounds.
If you have anti theft on your car, it will be hard to install a remote start because your key has a chip in it to tell the computer your key is in the ignition. If you don't have antitheft, you still need to tap into the engine computer circuit to install a remote starter. This is not a do it yourselfer installation.
Or, are you just trying to jump start the starter from uner the hood to bypass the start position on the ignition switch? To do that, turn the key on and jump from the battery positive post to the starter solenoid mounted on the starter.
