Question about 2005 Pontiac Vibe

2 Answers

I had my battery and alternator replaced on my 2005 vibe. When I went to pick it up the fan will now not turn on with my air conditioner. It worked fine before. The repair man said he did not do anything to the fan plus it is inside under neath the glove compartment.... any ideas??

SOURCE: Levelling Driver's Door and replacing air conditioner filter behind glove compartment

Regarding the door, you are prob going to need a body repair shop to do it properly.

The cabin ir filter is located behind the glovebox. Open the glovebox, remove all of your personal stuff. Disconnnect the shock absorber-looking thingy at the right side. Press IN on both sides of the glovebox "box", to defeat the 2 travel limiting pins on either side. The cabin air filter is located in a black or white rectangular looking door, pull it out and extract the filter.

SOURCE: 2005 Pontiac Vibe heater fan working on high only

My 2005 Vibe did the same thing it was the heater resistor. It is located to on the firewall behind the glove box on the lower left side of the blower assembly. Two 5.5mm screws hold it in place (1/4 inch socket works too). I used a socket attached to a socket swivel to replace mine in under 10 minutes. Heater now works as good as new. I purchase mine online for $30 from rockauto.

My vibe 2005 fan is not working. It started by not working here and there but not does not work at all. Checked coolant and fuses. Can't figure it out at all. Please help hot days and over 1 hr to work...

If the air flow is there( you can hear the blower running), but very light, change the in cabin air filter. Directions for replacement are in your owner's manual. If it is the AC that is not working then you might want to change your AC clutch relay, available from Rockauto.com.

If it works some times then it is probably the switch.

There should be a fusible link in that circuit.

Heater fan

not necessarily could be something else try jumping the fan with direct current from battery and see if it runs could be in fan switch or could be a fuse causing the problem if it does not run with direct current from battery then it is the motor.

Battery won't hold charge

My 2002 Ford2.gif Escape had a similar issue later in 2006. My alternator died and I needed replacement. After replacing, the light would come on and off at times. When everything running (i.e. radio2.gif, air conditioner, driving lights) and tocuh electric windows up the power would lower and sometimes battery light on dashboard would come up. Original mechanic could find out what was going on and I lived for 2-3 years with it.

This past August 2009 after a long trip (i.e. 8 hours or so) my battery died. Brought to a auto parts place and they determined it was the baterry and the alternator. Since I was back on my home town I went to a good friend that is a mechanic and he fixed it for real.

He had a similar issue with three different Escapes coming back with alternator or baterry or both death. He found out that Ford has an official report for Escapes that when this happens the electric fan behind the radiator are short circuiting, affect direclty the baterry and alternator killing them, and needs replacement.

Try this and may work for you.

Air conditioner started blowing warm air

The alternator is what makes the battery light come on, it is telling you the alternator is not charging the battery
