Hi chevy experts, I have a 97 3.8L camaro RS manual trans, and I've been having acceleration problems. When i push the gas pedal more than just a little bit, the car starts to stumble and hesitate and it just won't accelerate normally. That is, if i do not depress the gas a lot, i can accelerate slowly and without any stumbling and hesitating all the way to highway speeds, and through all the gears. But if i give it any more gas than only about a quarter it starts stumbling; it will still accelerate but it is violent and not smooth and feels like it is hurting the engine. Air filter, fuel filter, cables and coils have been changed (though not the spark plugs, i think): that was all due to my mechanic hitting and missing while trying to fix the problem. So if anyone would have any idea what exactly might fix the problem so that i can tell the mechanic to just fix THAT and to not guess at the problem anymore himself, i would appreciate it very very much. Thank you Dan p.s. once i had poured 91 octane gas (i usually use 87 because that is what the manual recommends) and i felt like the problem went away and celebrated for about a day thinking that i have found the solution, but after a bit the problem came back, and i'm not sure whether it was because the next tank of 91 might have not been as good as the one that i thought fixed the problem, or perhaps there was no causal connection here at all between the 'better gas' and the problem going away (i guess, as they say, correlation doesn't necessarily imply causation)

You need to add a can of B&G 44K fuel additive with a tank 91 octane . This additive is the best on the market and is only available at dealerships. It will condition your fuel pump and injectors. Your problem sounds fuel related so try this first. Next cheapest will be the throttle position sensor (TPS) and the next cheapest will be Manifold absolute pressure (MAP) . Stay on 91 octane, good luck

1994 Chevy Camaro Z28 6 Cylinder keeps accelerating without pushing on the gas. I recently removed the air intake thingy on the top of the engine where the fuel injectors are and now it wont run properly....

Have the fault codes read. Replace faulty items. Use only genuine items as non-genuine replacement are not always compatible with the OEM fitted CPU units. replace the air intake thingy as it is critical to the performance of the engine. I suspect your original problem is an accelerator position sensor or an idle sensor.

Car will not accelerate when gas pushed

Clutch plate and pressure plate seem to be too weak to pull the car. To test the clutch plate, park the car on flat surface. Pull the hand brake up, start the car, depress the foot brake pedal, depress the clutch pedal, put the car in 1st gear, press the gas pedal and leave the clutch pedal at once, while keeping the brake pedal depressed.
Follow one of the two following statements:
1. Engine does not shut down and remain start. (Clutch plate, pressure plate and clutch bearing defective - Replace all as a set)
2. Engine shuts down. (Clutch system is OK and does not require any repair).

OK I'm gonna try and explain the best I can. my 1992 camaro rs 3.1 is cutting out real bad. it will start right up but when I hit the gas it bogs down. it idles really high. I've changed t

It sounds like a fuel delivery issue, you may have a bad injector. this would cause too much fuel going into engine and cause the lack of power. First try adding fuel injector cleaner to your gas and get the highest octane at the pump, if that doesnt work pull the plugs and look for one that is wet or has higher carbon build up.

When i accelerate my gear shift bobs up and down. I dont know what the problem is. can some one help me. my car is an 89 camaro rs v6 2.8 with a manual trans.

some movement is normal as you accelerate hard,But if it is alot you need to check motor mounts and transmission mounts for movement.
lift the hood and have a friend put the E brake on,put in first and let the clutch out slowly while giving it gas to check the left motor mount out, notice how high the motor lifts, then do the same thing in reverse, that will check the right side mount if they look the same you will have to have the transmission mount check on a hoist.
