false-- Remember that you require a certain viscosity oil in the sump and any oil that thins out the sump oil will cause damage to the bearings. Check that the oil filter in use has a non drain back valve in it to retain oil in the hydraulic tappets on shut down. The best oil to clean out an engine is diesel oil as used in diesels. The viscosity is right and the extra detergents in the oil will remove all sludge in the engine. The problem is because it is doing the job then the filter has to changed every 5000miles or sooner depending on the condition in the engine. As a point of interest diesel oil can be used in a petrol engine all the time.
How much is a "large amount"? And how long has it been since your last oil change? It is normal for a diesel engine to have fuel in the crankcase due to the high compression ratio. I believe if there is less than a liter (quart) after 4,000 miles then you have nothing to worry about. If it is more then I would suggest you have it inspected for leaking injectors.
You do not list the engine size. This truck comes with 3 engines. 5.4 V8, 7.3 Diesel, and a V10. Your owner's manual will list the capacity. The add mark normally means add 1 quart on a V8. Add 1/2 quart wait 5 minutes and check the level again. The 5.4 L V8 capacity is 6 quarts of 5w20 with filter change. If it is a diesel then it requires a special oil for diesels which is 15w40 weight and it holds 14.5 quarts.
You will need to have a diagnostic test on this vehicle which will then provide you some error codes. Then once you get the error code you can start looking where the fault is.Hope this helps.
I don't have a owners maual either but I beleive its 10 liters.Use 15w40 ams oil with ams oil filter.7500-10000 miles for filter changes and 20000 miles between oil changes
