The driver's side window in my 2002 Alero wouldn't roll down. I took it in to get the oil changed and they rolled it down some how. Now it won't go back up and they tried to charge me $45 to get it back up. How can I do it myself? I tried pushing it up, but it won't stay up all the way. I think they messed it up even more than it was.

SOURCE: Front(Driver) Window problem 2002 Olds. Alero

If a power window, then it sounds like the window regulator has failed, or on either a power or manual window- the regulator attachments have broke. The window would need to come out and inspect for the failure. ?If just the window attachments, they can be purchased and re-glued onto the glass. If the regulator has failed, the entire assembly needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: Window will not roll up

Their is a separate motor for each window. The least expensive fix is to replace the entire track assembly and motor. This is not a big job if you have done it before but it could be if you are not mechanical.

SOURCE: driver's window won't roll up all the way

If you have power windows it should be a broken cable, If its manual then it should be the crank asm. or the white plastic trac, it may torn at the end.

SOURCE: 2000 dodge durango driver side window problem

durangos have many problems with the windows motors and regulators, I know for personal experience , because I have one, ...when you try rolling the windows down do you hear any noise coming from inside the door..if so.. the cable is busted ..you will need the windows regulator, if no, is probably the motor..you will have to check for power and ground right at the motor connector...if power and ground are present, then you need a motor ....in mine ,I pull the motor and cleaned , and they have been fine for more than a year, I starter with one and them had to do the same to all of them..hope this help

On a 2003 Buick Regal, When I start the engine the drivers side window rolls down, then times out and wont roll up for about a minute. It wouldn't usually be a problem, but it has been a rainy May and...

Wow that is a strange one. I took some time to look at a schematic and came up with the express down module that is part of the drivers master switch. When the window is up you can unplug the passenger switch and that window wont work at all but I don't know what your money position is. Good Luck and God Bless.

9 times out of 10 when windows won't roll up or down it is the switch. It is probably just dirty or broke. pop it out of there open it up and check it out. Don't be afraid to do it yourself. if it isn't your switch than try replacing motor/regulator. I am pretty sure it is easiest to get them together. just be careful not to bend the regulator arms!!!!!!

Sounds Like you need a window regulator! Can you still hear the motor running?

2002 Nissan Xterra drivers power window wont roll down

Quite possibly yes...I would first check any relays and/or fuses just in case.  A few dollars for a fuse or relay is much cheeper than say $100.00 and a few hours of labor.
You can purchase just the window motors from any major auto parts stores.  You can also purchase the window motor with the regulator.  The regulator is kind of like a rope and pulley system to lift the window up and down and the motor is attached to this assembly.  It is a little more expensive but I would change both.  I always change both just in case the regulator is bad and it isn't the motor.  You will have to remove the plastic interior of the door in order to change either the motor or the motor/regulator assembly.
