05 chevy radios locked out after sawp was told to try and swap ecu's but i dont know what and where or how detailed of a task it is?

Different engine means a different ECU and a different wiring harness from the original in the car not to mention other items. (Never a good idea to try and fit a different engine from the original given the complex electronics). You need to plan the feasibility of these kinds of engine swaps before you decide on doing it. You will now need to employ a professional to work out the wiring but you might have a problem finding a competent mechanic willing to take on the task which will be complex and time consuming.

Check the cigarette fuse, Sometimes it's the memory of the clock on the radio and if you pop that from a cell phone your radio won't work..

In your manual there should be a unlock code. If you are unable to find it or dont have one you will have to contact your local chevy dealer

you probably need to swap ecu's as well as they are coded together.

The dealership is the only place that I know of that can unlock the radio. Unless you find a "use to be" mechanic with the procedure to unlock it. Installing the radio, research goolge, i have seen a website with info for doing that. I dont remember what the site name is, sorry.

Hello I see you have swapped a radio from a 05 trailblazer to an 01 Impala. Gm has pretty much made it impossible to do any kind of radio replacement. Even though the two radios may look alike each one has been programmed to a certain vehicle. This is part of the anti-theft, in most cases if a radio is programmed to one vehicle it cannot be reprogrammed to another.

some factory radios wont play burnt cds,dont know if thats the case?but i not the case the optcal lens in side the radio is bad got one id sell you out of a 05 ha ha.

Hi,Im certain the VSS ecu is located behind the passenger glovebox,Incidently did you know you nee a matching ecu & key fob,alternativly you will need to have unmatching pairs married via Tech 2.

ur radio is vin encoded off ur cars computer u have to it calibriated by the dealer
