1979 el camino fuel filter

if you have a quadrajet carb it will be right at the fuel inlet, front of the carb. you may have an inline filter instead or also, this would be in the line between the fuel pump (front left side of engine block as you look at the engine) and the carb

i usually remove the one that is in the carb and put in an inline filter myself, it makes replacement so much easier.. the carb housings like to strip out

No fuel to carb after replaceing pump

Check filter. If there is fuel at the filter then it sounds like you have got a bad pump. I have had this happen more than once.

It will start then quit running as soon as it gets gas

Try replaceing your fuel filter . Its a pressureized system if the filter is cloged say 80 % the pressure would still push enough fuel to start the vehicle but when it has to run the engine would starve for fuel and stall and this will also damage your fuel pump if not corrected so check the filter its in the fuel line under the vehicle follow it from the tank its a metal line and will be under the drivers door area and be mounted to the frame rail in the gas line
