Is the radio in safe mode? you will no this as it will say safe on the front of the radio if it does say this then you have to leave the radio on with the ignition on for 30 mins before it will let you put in the 4 digit code.

Factory alarm for 2001 cabrio, is it part of the radio?

No, it is not part of the radio unit proper. I have been driving my car since it was 3 days old without the factory radio. I could not tell you where the alarm is located, & I would not cut any of the original wires that lead to the radio to the harness, those might have something to do with the alarm, Vw tends to wire things funny

How to unlock radio

There are instruction in your manuel to unlock your radio, You should have a unlock code that may be written down on one of the back pages to your manuel. If you don't then try 0000 as a code to unlock and if that does not work, go to www.radio-code.com. It will cost some money, but a lot less then the dealer unless you have a good service record there and they may reset the radio if you have the code. Good luck and hope this helps.

Volvo radio unlock problem

Turn the ignition on 1st position. Engine off. Ensure headlights are off to avoid battery drain. Turn power to radio on, 'Off' appears. Leave like this for approx 2 hours. It should then ask you for the code again.
