2004 saturn ion coolant light Keeps appearing

If you are saying that it comes on now and then, and goes off, your may just need to add Anti-freeze/boil to the overflow tank. Does it come on when you're coming to a stop or going up or down a hill, if yes, add coolant to the overflow tank to bring it up to the correct level, not the radiator.

A small loss over a long period of time is acceptable, but constant refilling, indicates a leak either internally, with the coolant exiting through the exhaust, or one that you should see under your car occasionally. Sometimes you'll find your coolant leak in the floorboards if the heater core or hose leaks.

If your sensor comes on after driving a while & goes off as a result of adding coolant, then you'll probably need to pressure test the cooling system to identify where the coolant is going. Bad hose, seal, headgasket, head, etc.

Good luck !

Reseting coolant light

The only way to "Reset" your coolant light is to fill your coolant to the proper level. If the coolant is at the proper level and the light is still on, then you have a malfunctioning coolant level sensor.

The word "coolant' comes on on the odometer screen

Check the collant level in the coolant bottle. If low add coolant. If it is O.K, then you must have a bad coolant level sensor. It is located inside the bottle and is not serviceable, so you need another Coolant Bootle, and it cost about $60. Before replacing, I would try to remoce the coolant bottle and give it a good cleaning with hot water. You can replace it witha new one, or try the luck in a junk yard.

Coolant level is fine but after about 2 minutes of starting my car COOLANT keeps coming on the dash board console. What is the problem and how do i solve it? Thank you. Saturn Ion 1, 2.2L. ...

Sounds like you have a leaking hose connection or a bad heater core. Take it to a shop which does air conditioning and radiator work and have them tell you exactly what is bad and give you a price. Even if you have an old Saturn dealer around now doing service work, stay away. Not an easy job to get at the core and replace it.

2003 saturn ion adding antifreeze every 2 weeks cannot find leak

There should be a radiator cap as it controls what goes into the overfill tank. You might consider replacing it. If there are no leaks in the radiator or hoses, there are only 3 places the coolant can go (water pump leak, blown gasket, or out throught the radiator cap). Hope its the cap because that's the cheapest. Good luck!

My 2002 Saturn L300 has been losing coolant over the past six weeks. I had to fill the resevoir twice during that time period. The coolant level was 1/2" below the cold line and there was no coolant on the...

This may be the first sign that your water pump is failing. First sign is a leak. Crawl on your back under car if you can see if you can see it coming from front of engine near a pully that would turn your water pump. There is a "weep hole" it may be driping from.

Coolant light 2004 saturn ion 4 cylinder

I had the same problem. My 2004 Ion had 85000 miles on it. It was a bad sensor. The whole coolant reservoir tank needs to be replaced to fix the problem. This was covered under the extended warranty that we had. If you are doing this repair yourself, a hose clamp tool is recommended for simplicity.
