I had a similar problem with my Dodge truck.I replaced the cap, rotor, plugs and wires and the check engine light went out. Within 4 days the light came back on with codes for multiple misfires..To make a long story short, I put electrical tape on the wires to adjacent cylinders and the problem was solved. Answer; The pluig wires they are making for Dodge are really cheap!

Engine misfires. Battery dead/fixed. Po303 code: Changed plugs/wires, code cleared/reappeared. Misfiring again. Po420 code/then cleared. Po306 code. Replaced coil tower. Misfired again..

You either have a bad catalytic converter causing too much back pressure or you are running rich. I think cylinder 3 and 6 are on the same side of the engine (except opposite banks) right? Locate the fuel pressure regulator. Is it on the same side? I've seen those go bad and allow fuel to be sucked into the vacuum line causing a rich condition/ misfire on two or three cylinders on that side of the engine.

Can a check engine light with and error code of EGR cause black soot in the tailpipe of a 2005 dodge grand caravan???

Hi. The black soot is that your engine is running too rich. I would have checked out the O2 sensor. The O2 sensor tells the computer how much gas is needed to run your car. If the sensor is malfunctioning or dead the computer will make the engine run with more gas (rich) Go to your mechanic and have him run the code scanner. I would also clean out the EGR valve which you can do yourself. Good luck

2007 dodge ram 1500 with hemi.. had check engine light on. had it checked and said o2 sensor or running rich. replaced 2 o2 sensors and still have the problem

I have herd of this problem before. One solution is to try and find gas with no ethonol in it or get the super unleaded.

2007 dodge ram hemi running rich with check engine light on

You now know trouble codes are for guiding you on what to test, rather than what to replace.
The code probably said the O2 sensors were reading rich which was correct. The computer tries to lean out the injectors when the sensors stay on the rich side of the scale. If it can't the code is set.
Your real problem may be a sticking injector or a faulty fuel pressure regulator.
You may have to have a shop use a 4 gas analyzer to check for excess fuel in the exhaust.

CODES P0300, P1128

po300 is random miss fire doubtful two O2 sensors bad at one time most likely coolant temp sensor is bad causing engine to run rich this will cause O2 sensors to throw a code(thats what they are there for..exhaust gas temp. and raw fuel) running rich will also fowl spark plugs(=miss fire) P1128 ??

1996 dodge dakota black smoke, engine running horrible getting P0171 code?

It sounds like your engine is running very rich yet the computer thinks it's lean. P0171 is a lean code for bank 1 (the side of the engine with cylinder #1) Pretty much the only causes could be a large exhaust leak, bad o2 sensor or bad computer. Is the p0171 the only code?

2003 dodge ram 5.7L intermittently has a rough idle and an idle rpm of 500 I think the normal is 650. When I put it in gear the idle picks up and smooths out. Sometimes it will do this in gear and stall...

okay, the o2 code can cause problems, theres a problem with one of the o2 sensors, theres 2 or 4 sensors, the repair was not done right or theres another bad o2 sensor, next thing i would check is the idle air control motor, this sounds like it sticks at time or just stops working, start with these things first,
