Hi just wanted to find out how much it is to replace a front left end outer tie rod end on a eurobean hatchpack citroen car please

price of the tie rod end + 1/2 hour labor + wheel alignment
the tie rod may be cheaper if an after market part is available , labor charges vary from shop to shop and the wheel alignment may be optional depending of the quality of the labor selected
best ring around and get quotes from accredited service centers that work on your make of vehicle . The part cost can be checked by calling spare parts shops and dealer spares departments

Steering rod that the tie rod end is threaded onto is bent. Can that rod be replaced by its self?

yes! It is called an inner tie rod end and may require a special tool to install. Alignment is required after parts are replaced. Failing to do aligment may cause tire to be worn exessively

Is this a reasonable charge? Total = $350 : Left front Tie Rod alignment Left window switch Parts Labor

It sounds correct to me I paid $220 for a front end alignment with a new tie rod installed. A window switch alone is near $100 for the part

The dealer wants to replace my outer tire rods said they are moving should i have this replace how much does it usually cost

YEP IF THEY NEED REPLACING BECAUSE THEY EFFECT STEERING AND TIRE WEAR.BEST TO GET A PRICE CHECK FIRST BECAUSE YOU LOOKING AT 1.0 LABOR TIME.PLUS FRONT END REALIGNMENT THIS HAS TO BE DONE WHEN REPLACING INNER OR OUTER TIE RODS AND PARTS.DONT LET THEM DO THE JOB UNTIL YOU GET A PRICE CHECK.IF DEALERSHIP DOING THE JOB I WOULD HAVE AT LEAST $700.00 IN POCKETS TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE.

Can someone tell me what Tie Rod Ends are? I've been told by my mechanic that I need to replace them. Why does the car need to be realigned when I get this service?

The tie rod is part of the steering mechanism. If you replace these they will not be exactly the same as the old ones which may have changed shape over time etc... Here is a very good site for info relating to your car and helps with all the technical stuff... http://news.carjunky.com/how_stuff_works/what-is-a-tie-rod-abc170.shtml

Tie rod replacement cost

Hi Gcg_77,
You will need to contact your local auto parts store to get price for the tie rod ends.My flat rate manual listed them at $65 a piece but this is an old price.
The labor time listed for these are as follows:

1 inner tie rod end is listed at 1.4 hours,if you replace both it is listed at 2.0 hours.
1 outer tie rod end is listed at 1.1 hours,if you replace both it is listed at 1.4 hours.
These times include resetting the toe only. If you want a complete alignment you deduct 0.4 hours labor and charge full alignment price.
Hope this helps. If you need anything else, let me know. Thanks,Chuck

TYROD

to change a tierod on 2001 malibu, jackup and remove front tire, next locate the nut holding tierod on tire side, remove cotter pin and loosen but do not remove the castle nut from the tie-rod end ball joint stud. then install a small puller and break loose the tie-rod end from the steering knuckle. remove nut and detach tie-rod end. (I forgot to mention before taking tie-rod end off of vehicle, loosen the tie-rod end jam nut and mark the position of the tie-rod end on the threaded portion of the tie-rod. you can also count the number of turns to take off so you can put it back on.) make sure the new tie-rod end is aligned with the mark you made on the threads of the tie-rod. have the alignment checked or adjusted after you have installed tie-rod end. if in doubt you can go to any auto parts store and buy a haynes manual for your vehicle, they are based on a complete vehicle teardown. the cost is only about 20.00.

I would suggest buying the tie rod yourself and taking to a shop to install. Tie rods are normally between 20-30 dollars. Yourll save yourself money on the parts cost.
