FIRST,as long as you line up the pulleys BEFORE you take off the belt its relatively easy.if you feel, you are competant, get on and do it....with brakes they are so simple/logical,as long as you take your time and replace exactly as it comes apart, you will have no problems,WE are here to help if you get stuck.

95 MERC MYSTIQUE,STUCK IN PARK, DID THE MANUAL OVER RIDE SCREWDRIVER TRICK, GOT IT IN NEUTRAL LOADED CAR ON TRAILER UNLOADED NEW TIMING BELT SET, STARTED RIGHT UP BUT NOW STUCK IN NEUTRAL

Do your brake lights work? Your brake pedal switch supplies power to the shift solenoid to alow you to shift. When you push the pedal do you here a clicking in the Shifter? The fuse might have blown, it is in the interior fuse panel possibly listed as shift interlock.

1995 mercury just died going up hill got fire got fuel but the timinig belt seems real loose do i have to pull the motor to fix

you should not have to pull the engine to do this, you need to take apart the front (timing cover) so that you can access the lower portion where the crank shaft is so you can line up the marks for a new belt installation-the belt has a tensioner so it getting really loose means you should check it out if you decide to do the belt.

The Timing belt broke on my 1995 mercury mystique I was looking for a manuel to fix it. thank you

This can be a big problem if it is a Non Interferrance Motor, meaning that when your timing belt broke you engine basically free wheeled during slow down. This can bend the intake and exhaust valves, extended cranking on motor trying to get it to start after the belt breaks can also cause this. You can get a Chiltons manual to have a guide in replacing the timing belt, i can say i know the motor in your car is a dual over head cam engine. These can be a little more difficult to do if you have never replaced a timing belt. May be best to take it to a professional that can test the head and make sure that no valves are bent before you pay for the belt and timing tensioner.

My mercury Mystique shutters when the heater is turned on or when it is put into gear. I have set the timing according to the book and it still does the same thing. I have replaced the o2 sensor, MAF...

BELIEVE IT OR NOT I THINK ITS YOUR ALTERNATOR! THIS IS TYPICAL FOR THE MYSTIQUE OR SHOULD I SAY (MISTAKE). NOTHING YOU CAN DO , ITS AN ELECTRICAL DESIGN FLAW. THE CARS ARE TO ELECTRONIC FOR THEIR ALTERNATORS OUTPUT. OF COURSE THIS IS MY OWN ASSUMPTION. THEY ARE AN ELECTRICAL NIGHTMARE. HOWEVER I DID FINALLY FIX THE PROBLEM I HAD WITH MINE.( I SOLD IT!)
