I have a 93 dodge caravan and the seatbelt is locked up and will not release. It is fully retracted and will not move at all. I noticed there is something at floor level that controls the seatbelt, is there something wrong with that or what? Please direct me to some information! Thanks!

SOURCE: Dodge Caravan Repair

Here's a link for different year but same basic idea. This is for intake manifold, (when on the page scroll down to 3.0L) just to let you know what your getting into. Once the intake is off, removing the head is pretty basic as long as you've done some of that type of work in the past.If you decide to try it, get back to us for hints etc, if you run into trouble.

I hope this helps with your problem have someone to take and put the car in the air on jack stands do not start the car be sure to put something behind the back wheels first for safety put the car in neutral have someone put on gloves and see if they can turn the wheels in the front if you can not turn the wheels it is either a bad caliper on the brakes or a bad axle

SOURCE: 2003 dodge caravan rear door locks

Look for contacts at door jamb & door, that mate when closed.( usually round metal piece) Take a piece of fine steel wool & scrub them and see if that cures it.

93 seatbelt won’t retract in rear Honda accord

Remove the belt retractor, remove the clock spring side cover of the belt spool and give the mechanism a light squirt of WD40. Reinstall the cover, hold the mechanism as close to parallel to the ground as possible and firmly tug on the seatbelt rapidly (like 'jiggling' it) until it frees itself and retracts. These mechanisms are tilt sensitive and will lock themselves if they're not on a near perfect horizontal axis so this will take some patience - and a touch of luck.

The back left seat seems to be stuck due to the locking of the middle seatbelt. Any idea on how to fix that?

When a seatbelt locks up it is usually due to dirt or corrosion in the automatic locking mechanism. The mechanism can't release because it is under tension. If you get into the cover that houses the release mechanism for the seatbelt, you may be able to hit it with a little wd-40. You do have to release that tension so that the lock will spring back to the open position and allow the seatbelt to retract. Try the lube. Sometimes the galvanized coating on the internal parts causes a seize.

Release retracted seatbelt

The safety belts are sensible to release speed (u have to release it kinda smooth). Also they are sensibile to car inclination (lean) may not release whel when rise/fall position. If locked,u may have to shake a little the belt so the locking spring/balls to unlock.Eventualy ,when driving it can release by itself. One thing is for shure:no sudden moves:it locks again (as in the impact scenario)Cheers

I have a 2010 Ford Fusion. The seats belts are so tight that I can't stand to wear them. Especially the one on the drivers side. It is like with every little jar it tightens up. I have to hold it...

hello from Fordland!
your dealer is able o supply you with a seatbelt extender at no charge. this is a courtesy that ford gives to thei owners. see your local ford dealer for details..i hope this helps, your thumbs up is appreciated....BTW, the right front and all rear seat belts have a child safety feature buil into the retractors. it will cause the seatbelts to cinch tight an not release once engaged, until the seatbelt has been fully retracted therby releasing the locking mechanism...this feature is only engaged when the retractor is pulled out to is fullest limits, at that point you will hear a ratcheting noise as it retracts....

My seatbelts feed out properly and retract

There is a ball inside that when you brake moves and locks the seat belt. Your best bet is to drive and see if it locks when you brake hard. If not replace it. Some cars wont lock when you pull on them only when inertia takes over do they lock.

What kind of seatbelts are in the 2001 dodge

they won't lock when you manually pull. Not as sensitive as foreign cars. But I guarantte they will lock when you stop real quick. Give it a try, do about 15mph and hit em!

Driver side seat belt is fully retracted and will not release.

Try giving it a solid tap with something hard (screw driver handle) while jiggling the seatbelt.

1998 Subaru Outback right rear seatbelt stuck.

you need to pull the belt out all the way to release it ,they have a locking mechanism for baby seats that stops them retracting, you pull them all the way out and they are reset and retract, common in modern cars, rare to give trouble
