Air conditioner / heater control panel shows lights at the top and bottom buttons but the middle buttons do nothing and no longer light up. I took it to Toyota and they said it was a bad A/C control panel but that was changed and the issue is the same. I took it back to Toyota and they did worked on it for 2 days and they said it was the dash wiring harness. There are 2 caps missing on 2 of the slots. They said it would cost $4-5,000 to replace. I found the wiring harness online for $200 but I am reluctant to change out this part as I don't think this is the issue. If the caps were the problem then the Land Cruiser has been without them for at least 5 years with no issue. I am frustrated and do not want to sink any more money into something that might not work. Any suggestions?

SOURCE: Toyota Land Cruiser check timimg Belt

Hi,

I am assuming that you have a series 80 diesel engine and that it has run for about 100,000 kms hence the warning light and the changing of the timing belt. Based on the instructions of its repair manual you need to "remove the grommet off from the speedometer and turn off the lamp by pushing the warning light reset switch, then replace the grommet." Alternately, you can try to reset the entire computer of the vehicle by removing the battery cables for a couple of minutes. Pls note that some car radios/head units would revert to security default (ask for a code) when power is completely removed.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

I think you are low on refrigerant in the system, you may have a leak, you will need to hook up pressure guages to determine the exact cause.

SOURCE: 2005 Toyota 4Runner AC temp. control lights are not working.

I am going to guess that the peanut bulb in the knob is burned out.

I had a similar problem with my 2003 4Runner and changed the bulb and it worked fine.

The dealer told me it would take about 8 hours to change the 3 dollar bulb. I looked in my manual and it took me between 5 and 10 minutes tops.

I don't remember what the bulb number is. I do know that I had to get it from a Toyota dealer and not a regular auto parts store.

Hope this helps.

1998 dodge caravan my battery was dead and after replacing it my panel lights are blinking window wiper and washer bottoms below radio

Same problem with my 98 grand caravan! Turn heater on high with air directional toward your face. Press & hold top back wiper button & bottom back wiper button (1 button between) until all buttons light up. Release buttons. Then it will go thru reset process. After a few mins. If top button is still lit up, repeat steps again. Found instructions written in back of my manual. Worked like a charm!

I'm having a flashing light s on the push buttons for the 2 windshield and air conditioner and air flow buttons

(copied and reposted from another person)....I had the same problem you do. What has most likely happened is that the Heater-a/c unit needs to be recalibrated. Here are the steps to do it.
With the engine running and fully warmed up, A/C has to be turned off for at least 5 minutes [don't turn it on at all] and transmission in Park do the following
1. Set the temp control all the way to cold
2. Set the mode selector to Vent [blowing in your face] so air blows out of the dash panel outlets.
3. Hold down the rear washer button [top left] and the rear wiper button [bottom left] simultaineously for about 5 seconds until most all of the heater and ac panel lights blink and then release both buttons.
6. At this point the system should go into a self calibration test which can take up to 60 seconds. While it is calibrating various control panel switch lights will blink as it goes through it's tests.
7. When the system is done calibrating then just the rear wiper light should be flashing and you can exit the test by turning off the vehicle. Wait about 10 seconds and restart the engine and it should be fine. If both the rear wiper and intermittent light are both still flashing after the calibration then there is most likely a problem with the system that will need more diagnosing. This sometimes happens with battery replacement. It sometimes takes a couple of tries to calibrate so don't give up if it doesn't work the first time.

I have a 2007 Equinox. The air conditioner will not come on when you push the control button. The other functions on the control panel work. I have checked the fuses, the relay, and the compressor turns....

usually when there is no gas in the ac system it will not come on,
check if you have gas in the system, if not you might have a leek that needs to be solved before recharging the system with gas

The air conditioner control lights on dash bord keep flashing off and on

Try this and see if it works. Let me know.
Start your van. Then slide your temp lever all the way to the left (full cold). Then turn the Mode Control to 'panel' (the one that sends air to your face only). Then turn the 'blower switch' to all the way to full. Now go to the leftmost three buttons. Press the top one (rear wiper on constant) and the bottom one (rear wiper washer fluid). Hold these two for a few seconds. Once the lights come on solid then begin to flash you can let go. The AC will now calibrate. You will feel the air blow out of all the different zones at different intervals and see lights come on and go off. Then after a minute or two the top button you pressed will be slowly flashing. This means it has been completed . Press the last flashing button and you are done.
